Do the borders in menu editor mean something?

When you preview your menu, a thin border appears on your screen. Does this border show you what you can see on screen, or is it for something else?

Your assumption is correct. The thin frame you're referring to appears when you have the "TV Anti-cropping" checkbox ticked in the DVD-authoring module. It shows you what part will actually be visible on your TV screen in the end. The information for the position and size of the visible frame comes from the TV cropping feature settings in the editing stage of the program (CTRL+B). If you want this to be accurate and really represent your DVD player/TV setup, you'd have to encode and play the TV anti cropping project first.
