Difficulty getting VirtualDub plugins

terrypin wrote on 7/21/2016, 11:47 AM

I'm trying in vain to install the VirtualDub plugins on this new PC in MEP 2016. Can anyone spot what I'm doing wrong here please?

The package source was techspot.com: http://tinyurl.com/zb53nl2

As you see, I even tried duplicating the files in the 'default' folder, but still not a single one shows up.

I also deleted them and copied across those I was using in MEP 2104 on the XP PC, still no luck:

EDIT: Just found John EB's post here, advising that they must be 64-bit now. Will pursue that. (But I saw a recommendation on the VirtualDub site to use 32-bit.)

http://www.magix.info/uk/using-virtualdub-filters-in-mep-2016.knowledge.1159857.html

Well,  still getting nowhere fast. That package is supposed to contain 64-bit as well as 32-bit.

Actually, the only one I really need is called LogoAway, filename logoaway.vdf. But with just that single file placed in any of the specified folders, it still doesn't show up. Presumably 32-bit.

Hi Terry

. . . . But I saw a recommendation on the VirtualDub site to use 32-bit. . . . .

If that is the recommendation I found - they are referring to using 32 bit VDub plugins with 64 bit VirtualDub.

64 bit VDub plugins are as rare as the Phoenix - searching suggests they exist however I have found none that work with MEP.

I have a recollection Walther did mention a plugin he had found however I can not find the post for that one.

However mentioning Walther did jog my memory and I did a quick search to find the post -  nmw01223 has converted the logoaway plugin to 64 bit and has offered it if requested - see here.

Hi,

I vaguely recall Walter giving us a link but I can't find the thread. I did find this link. Probably not the same link, but I have gradation_64_v1.1.zip.

Here is a link to the manual.

Terry, et al.

Running VPX (8) I see all my VD plug-ins listed (not actually tested most of them yet) but I do also have "Veedub64" installed on this machine.  I wonder whether this latter is the reason that I can access them and Terry, and apparently others, cannot?

Jeff

EDIT: I have just randomly selected some of those plugs and attempted to use them; all give an error message that either they are not installed, they are, or they are the "wrong format!  In "Veedub64" they do work, as might be expected I suppose.

Hi

@emmrecs

. . . . In "Veedub64" they do work, as might be expected I suppose . . .

That fits in with the post I found about using 64 bit plugins.

. . . . all give an error message that either they are not installed, they are, or they are the "wrong format! . . . .

In MEP 2015, 2016 and VPX I see the folder containing the plugins, however when I expand it, get message no plugins found / not detected. They work fine in MEP 2014 and earlier - as one would expect.

I also have this odd situation as shown in the image below:

  1. the VirualDub folder highlighted ( 1)  is not in any of the paths at (2)

  2. the folder indicated at 2 does not exist

Whew, I found the message from Walter but it was a pm. He gave me the German link to the same page that I posted here for gradation_x64.vdl. It's redundant now, I think, for those who have VPX, but should be quite useful for MEP. The tutorial is quite useful.

Hi all,

I can only assume that the option (1) is being picked up from MEP 2014 where it does exist.

That would be a neat trick! I wish MEP 2016 would pick up all my effects, collages, templates, etc from 2014. I'm currently doing so manually as usual.

Thanks to John EB I posted in that old link http://www.magix.info/uk/logo-removal-plug-ins-does-mep-2016-support.forum.1168753.html but doubt if nmw01223 will see it, so on second thoughts I'll send him a PM. Anyone else tried his 'logoaway' replacement?

I won't be able to try any practical stuff, as confined to iPad and iPhone for couple of weeks.
