cutting sections of track

I feel really stupid about this I have an earlier version of this program and going to buy this version...but...the intuitive way of selecting, holding the LMB and dragging doesn't highlight the section. It just moves the content???

So. i load an audio file. If i click and drag it just moves the start time, or a marker or something else. I just can't seem to select any part of the file...It used to be that you could set two markers and cut what was between them. what i have read on the help says it should work with the click and drag??? can somone please give me a step by step instruction set on how to cut a section of a track?...

tks

Hi

I do not use ACL, however look up Cut Mouse Mode in the installed pdf manual - available under Help. This explains the process of cutting, using this mode

Once you have done the cuts change the mouse mode to Move Mouse Mode to carry out moving the cut sections

thanks for the reply...:-)...truth is that the help and tutorials in this program suck!...I had the same issues with the first version of this but stumbled through it a pretty much got it to work when I was editing my imported records. It has some really great features, and is truly flexible...I really do like it.

I still don't know exactly how this is working, theoretically, but I have cludged it by switching back and forth between cut and pointer mode and eventually I can select and cut the right section...but it is trial and error right now. - thank god for undo!!!

I just wish it stayed with convention and allowed you to simply have a select mode where you cud just click and drag across a section of the audio file and then cut or copy or move it ...ya know...the way all the other windows programs work...:-)

Hi

You can use the keyboard shortcuts:

D to trim the start of an object on the track

U to trim the end of an object on the track

T to Split an object on the track

all work from the current position of the timeline cursor/marker

However with a little practice using the keyboard shortcuts below for changing the mouse mode it will quickly become a natural two handed operation - one hand switching mode on the keyboard and the other making the cuts and moving with the mouse.

H = Cut mode

V = Move mode
