Please state what version of Sound Forge you have and other pertinent info' Read the 'Sticky' at the head for the main Sound Forge forum page.

That said, try selecting "Seek cursor on playback" in the 'Options' menu.

You can also try resetting Sound Forge and clearing the cache. 'File> Reset', ( all preferences and cached data).
Alternate method: Holding the "Ctrl + Shift" keys whilst launching Sound Forge opens the same dialog.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @Stratiotase .

Thank you, rraud. I am using Sound Forge Pro 15. I actually used the oldest trick to fix this, namely, by saving my work, closing Sound Forge and restarting it! BUT I really appreciate the information you gave me, and I will try the "Seek cursor on playback" in the options menu. Thank you again, for your prompt answer and advice.

P.S. Thank you for welcoming me to the users forum.

@Stratiotase, do you mean the mouse (or touchpad) cursor, or the playhead cursor, which is the vertical line that indicates position on the timeline.
If it is the playhead that is hidden, you can try centering the playhead ("Center Cursor" in the Edit menu), and/or enable "Scroll Playback" (in the Options menu).
If all else fails, reset SF as I stated in my previous comment.

Dear rraud, I was referring to the playhead cursor. As I said previously, just closing the program and reopening it fixed the problem, BUT I appreciate the information you have given me, should it happen again.

Yes, exiting the program and restarting is usually the first to try, Restarting or cold booting the PC are second. Fortunately, you did not need to reset or uninstall/reinstall which removes your customized settings. Some of which are easy to save and restore, others.. like the toolbar, are not so easy.

I probably should also have mentioned that I had just reinstalled Sound Forge after having to reset my machine. And the problem occurred after I opened the program for the first time, entered the serial number and then opened a file to work on. Simply closing the program and then reopening it, solved the problem of the missing playback cursor.

Thank you, rraud, again for all of the useful tips you gave. I will review them if this problem ever occurs again.
