Could not connect to selected device

I have a PC with Win 10 and Movie Edit Pro 2014 Version 13.0.5.4

My camera, Sony HDR-HC9E is connected with Firewire. (Windows Live Movie Maker works ok, I can connect to camera and import video.)

Running MEP 2014 and

- selecting "Record video",

- selecting HDV camera in "Recording source selection" dialog box

I get an error message: "Could not connect to selected device".

How can I fix this?

Best regards, Stein

Hi

This could be a driver issue - Windows 10 is a 64 bit OS, and you have the 64 bit drivers installed for the Firewire device.

MEP 2014 is 32 bit software and requires 32 bit drivers for the Firewire device.

Check out this tutorial - it is for Windows 7, however it should be valid for Windows 10 - I cannot check this because I no longer have a Firewire device.
