Copy and Paste Between Files Not Working

Scott-Fitzgerald wrote on 2/28/2019, 7:57 AM

I had two open files in Sound Forge 12. I wanted to copy one sentence of VO from one and paste it into another. This would not work. When I pasted the audio, it would overwrite the entire timeline with silence! Undo would not undo that either, so I had to cloe the file without saving. Additionally, the play function would not work: not by tapping the spacebar or clicking the play icon. I had to reboot the software. All I wanted to do was copy some audio from one file to the other and this does not work. Please fix it! Thank you. -Fitz

Welcome to the Sound Forge forum Scott. Which version of Sound Forge 12... Audio Studio (AS) or Pro?
I briefly used AS during beta testing, prior to release, otherwise I am clueless about AS, which is quite different than SF Pro.

12 Pro. I just upgraded from 10 in December.

I have not read any reports that resemble that abnormality, nor can I duplicate it. What format are the files? Is the file you copied from and pasted to both the same format, sample rate and bit depth?

I appreciate you trying. Honestly, it is intermittent, but it has happened on 3 different machines. The files are the same, essentially. .wav 44.1K 16bit. I’ll record next time it happens and post.
