@Erik-Jensen Does it help if you change the audio driver in the program settings?

Do you use an up to date version of Windows 10?

@Erik-Jensen

Hi

You are missing a patch - the current version is 29.0.5.32 - try updating to the latest patch.

Are you getting any error messages when MMM crashes?

I updated to the latest patch. Unfortunately, it didn't solve my problem. I have to end the program through task manager every time. MMM is not responding. The only audio driver that works fully (ie I can hear instruments in midi object) is Wasapi. I can hear the actual song with the other drivers but not the instruments in midi object.

Any ideas?

I suppose you need to get used to it. I've been using MM 2017, 2018, 2019 for 2 years and all of them were crashing constantly and unexpectedly for no obvious reasons. Make frequent saves and a lot of them, because sometimes after opening they also have errors, lol.

From my personal experience of many years now, reading many posts on this forum, I am realizing that many of the problems that users encounter are due to an incorrect Windows configuration.  Microsoft's operating system is not born, unlike the Apple system, to make music but must be configured and optimized in order to run music software without encountering problems.
There are many online guides about this.
Any daw should only be installed after carefully configuring the system and installing all necessary drivers.
I have Music Maker Premium 2021 updated to the latest version and I honestly don't have big problems. Sure, I set the autosave every 3 minutes and sometimes I can run into issues but overall I can say that the program now works satisfactorily.
These are just my two cents.

Hi

. . . . .I have used all versions since 2015 or even earlier a have had a few problem but never like this . . . .

Were these also running on the Surface laptop? If not what were they running on?

What version is the Surface Laptop and the audio chipset used in it?

Can you post a screenshot of the Program settings, Audio/Midi tab.

Nope. I have run on Lenovo laptop and an "ordinary" Lenovo PC before. It seems that MMM is more stable when I run as administrator.

In the audio settings is says Realtek high definition Audio (SST).

I have tested all Audio alternatives under Audio/Midi, but the only one that works in the midi object is Wasapi.

Erik-Jensen wrote on 2/2/2021, 8:02 AM

I actually think it works now. Thanks guys for pushing me in the right direction.

I did the following:

1. Updated to the latest version of MMM

2. Updated Windows 10 to the latest version

3. I run MMM as Administrator

4. I run the Magix PC and tuning tool to provide me with more "boost"

5. Severely increased the buffers under Audio/midi. Don't know what I am doing though =)

6. Turned off the auto save.

7. Wasapi as audio driver under audio/midi. The others drivers will play the song but not work in the midi objects.

I have now used MMM for more than an hour without any crashes.

Constant crashing occur because of program bugs. Not computer settings.

MauX-65 wrote on 2/4/2021, 2:03 AM

Computer settings and optimizations matter, believe me and not just for Music Maker but for every single daw on the market.
They are often the very ones that make a difference on a Windows system.
In my PC MM works fine, of course there are still some bugs that will have to be solved but I can use it satisfactorily with the asio drivers of my soundcard and with more than acceptable latencies.

Erik-Jensen wrote on 2/4/2021, 2:47 AM

It would be nice if the program could give some kind of recommendation on how the settings should "set" depending on the CPU, RAM etc. on the computer.
