@Derek-Overy

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Assuming you have installed the drivers for your interface, this page suggests it may not be compatible with Windows 11 (the latest listed compatible Windows OS is Win 10, 2019 Update).

Can you use the interface with other audio recording programs on your computer? That would help to verify whether this is an OS problem or something specific to SFAS. Exactly which version of SFAS do you have?

@Derek-Overy It also might be possible if you install an ASIO driver, for example Magix Low Latency, ASIO4ALL or FL Studio ASIO. Select the ASIO driver in the Sound Forge Audio Preferences, click on Apply, then click on Advanced and Configure to open the ASIO driver settings and enable your Tascam as the input.

@Derek-Overy

Hi

. . . .  I'm on Windows 11 . . . .

Check in Windows settings, Privacy & security that the Microphone, Let desktop apps access your microphone is turned on - scroll down to get the correct options section.

The sound forge audio studio is brand new, audio studio 17 and compatible with windows 11, the interface is already working fine with ableton live. "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is on. Still no joy.

@Derek-Overy And have you changed the audio settings like I suggested? Please upload screenshots of your settings.

Derek-Overy wrote on 9/24/2023, 5:25 PM

Will screenshot the settings tomorrow thanks, but it is confivured for asio on the tascam.

Derek-Overy wrote on 9/25/2023, 7:22 AM

These are today's screen shots of settings etc. As you can see Sound Forge recognises the Tascam US-322/366. Everything looks good until I press arm recording then it crashes and I have to close the program.

@Derek-Overy Thank you very much. Your interface records in 44100 Hz and 24 bit but it seems Sound Forge records in 16 bit. Maybe this difference is causing the crash? Please create a new empty file first, then change the bit depth to 24 bit by right clicking on "16 bit" in the bottom right corner in the Sound Forge window.

Can you then open the View > Record Options window without freezing Sound Forge?

Derek-Overy wrote on 9/25/2023, 8:17 AM

Thanks, I will try that but my old version of sound forge was happy with 16 & 24bit. 24bit better for editing, 16 bit for CD (if you remember those)

@Derek-Overy Was your old version of Sound Forge also running on Windows 11?

Derek-Overy wrote on 9/25/2023, 8:54 AM

No, windows 7

SP. wrote on 9/25/2023, 9:40 AM

@Derek-Overy Ok, if my suggestion with the bitrate doesn't work you could try to change the compatibility mode of Sound Forge to Windows 7. Maybe this will change something.

You could also try ASIO4ALL as a driver for your interface. Maybe it will work. But I'm not sure.
