Concerns, complaints and why should I continue to purchase from Magix

MIKE-DION wrote on 8/22/2020, 7:39 AM

Why can't you contact anyone at Magix to get answers? I have the following problems and complaints:

1. Crackling noise in recordings as if I was listening to an old album on a turntable.

2. Unable to export tracks to wav or mp3.

3. Lack of response from support when I send these messages up.

4. Crashing when you record something and nothing happens.

@MIKE-DION

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Why can't you contact anyone at Magix to get answers?

You can, if you use the correct ticketed support system; this page will enable you to create a ticket if you are a registered user.

However, this forum has a considerable number of experienced users of the software who are willing and able to try and help other users. However, such help does depend on the user with the problems giving full details of what is happening, as well as about their computer and precise version and variant of Music Maker they have. This post will show you the level of information which is needed from you.

Bottom line: if you are posting here to request assistance, please help us to help you!

Crackling noises were going away in my case when I started to use an external audio interface. This also frees the processor for other tasks that because it does everything if you haven't such an interface. Another good idea is to keep Windows and all drivers up to date. There are some helpful tools out there to support you doing this like Snappy Driver Installer.

Thank you. I will have to purchase one. I have a HP Pavilion 64bit 8RAM. Had originally purchased 32 bit Music Maker and upgraded to 64 when all this stuff has happened.

@MIKE-DION

Hi

. . . . I will have to purchase one. . . . .

That may not be the fix for you, no point in spending money until all other options are exhausted first.

Check the Audio buffer settings - these are what I use - no crackling or popping.

. . . . Unable to export tracks to wav or mp3. . . . .

Suggests your running in Free version mode or have not installed the additional conete for the Plus and Premium versions.

. . . . I have a HP Pavilion 64bit 8RAM. . . . .

That tells us very little - this is a user to user forum and help given here is voluntary by the users - for accurate responses it is essential to provide information requested.

Help us help you, by providing the details of your PC/laptop as listed in the topic @emmrecs linked to.

Also see this list of known issues with the program - a patch is due soon.

I am not running FREE version. I purchased it. I have also followed along in several other comments made to up or down the buffer etc. and that has not worked for me. Furthermore I had uploaded all the info regarding my PC (Windows 10) to Magix sometime ago. This hasn't changed and everything including drivers are up to date. So, I must say that I am losing interest in creating more with Music Maker not to mention spending more money on a system that seems to complicate itself with updates.

Where is it? If this was with a bug report, we have no way of seeing that data.

As I said before everyone here is a user just like you including Moderators who are not employees of Magix.

If you want help, provide the information requested otherwise we are guessing and you are getting no further forward with the issue you are having.

. . . . I am not running FREE version. I purchased it. . . . .

Please confirm which variant you purchased - Plus or Premium?

Additionally can you confirm you have also:

  1. Registered and activated the software with the serial number you received by email on purchase.

  2. Downloaded and installed all the extra content that became available under the Downloads tab when the software was activated.

If you have not done item 2, then you are still running in free version mode with its limitations - not being able to export to mp3 being one of them.

The only difference between the Plus and Premium variants compared to the Free version is the degree of functionality, number of Soundpools and Instruments and features available - they all start off as the free version.

John,

Thank you for your follow up.

First, I’ve been a customer since 2016.  In 2018, I purchased Music Maker 2019 Premium Edition and loaded it up and created several new albums that have been released on our record label.

I had some issues but were able to communicate with Magix and resolve these.

I’ve also loaded Vita instruments and many more loops (all downloaded).

Up to this point I was running 32 bit.

In 2019 I purchased a new HP Pavilion PC (Windows 10):

Processor: - intel core

Operating system: - Windows 10 64 bit

Memory: -  8 RAM

Sound Card: - Microsoft Intel SST

Graphics Card: - Intel HD graphics

Browser: - Microsoft Edge

November 29, 2019 I purchased Upgrade: Music Maker 2020 Premium Edition (64 bit), followed by several other Sound Loop Collections and instruments over the course of several months.

Here is where I begin to run into several other issues as I already have stated.

Starting in March of this year, I sent messages to Magix only to be replied with:

On July 7 of this year I again upgraded: Upgrade: Music Maker 2021 Premium Edition. Version 29.0.1.16

and have created some albums but few due to the constant crackling, despite my attempts to change the buffer and latency.

So now it’s August and there seems to be other issues:

1. Crackling noise in recordings as if I was listening to an old album on a turntable.

2. Unable to export tracks to wav or mp3.

3. Crashing when you record something, and nothing happens.

P.S. I have as you have asked above,

Registered and activated the software with the serial number you received by email on purchase.
YES

Downloaded and installed all the extra content that became available under the Downloads tab when the software was activated.

YES

That’s the long and short of it.

@MIKE-DION

Hi

Thanks for confirmation of the activation and installed extra content.

We are still short of details about you computer.

Did you read the topic linked to for the details required of your computer?

See my signature below as an example of what we need.

Moving forward:-

Item 2 - Unable to export tracks to wav or mp3s

  • try logging out of the Store, restart MMM and then log back into the Store. You should have been able to export WAV files whether the program was registered or not, however mp3 is an additional feature and the 'activation data' on the computer may not have synchronised completely with the registration servers.

  • check that your Antivirus is not blocking MMM making changes to the computer - we have had 2 recent reports of essential files being quarantined with another Magix program.

Microsoft Intel SST

This is a chipset I have had little experience with, however check that the settings indicated in red in the image below under the Advanced button are similar - these are for my Realtek HDA chipset, however there should be similar options for the Intel SST.
