Okay, so I have a bit of a trick question...
I do not sell my music, I give it away; in which people can download it for free off bandcamp. Recently, I have made a new album, with some commercial license use of musicshake (which I have purchased), as well as here with Magix Music Maker 2015. I used some of the soundloops. Now, even though I do not sell the music composed, I did start up an indiegogo campaign to help me produce manufacturing of a 50 CD press of that album (of which I pitched in $500 and some friends added $175).
Does this form of manufacturing, even though technically donations merely to help press the album, fall under the guidelines of "commercial use"? The prices were all for the manufacturing alone, and I have not made profit off the albums...infact I lost cash doing it myself (highering mixers, mastering, etc). Not to mention no albums have sold for a price off bandcamp, they are all free.
I am curious if I still need a commercial license to use the soundloops in this incident. I would not want to feel as if I am cheaping out the actual composers of the music (BTW only my lyrics have a copyright on the page and credit is given to MMM as well as musicshake). Any info on this would be great.
Thank you,
Michael
