Color picking from photo to pallet for painting photo subject

Sandy-Mozingo wrote on 12/7/2021, 5:57 AM

Hello Folks, I specifically purchased Photo & Graphic Design v 365 12.5.1, to use as an aid in my animal portrait work. I am using win. 10 on a PC & have been reading about programs that can utilize the "color picker" tool to pick colors from various parts of the photo's subject & put them in boxes as a base pallet of colors to use in the painting to get the best color matching. I've seen one art instructor use a photo editing program to do this. It really helps to mix paint color close to the exact colors of the subject in various areas of light & shadows. Then the artist made varying shades of the base color, some lighter & some darker. I think he said his program could provide up to 4 or 5 basic pallet colors, then he mixed the median colors. Does anyone know about this feature & does my version of Photo & Graphic Design 365 12.5.1 have it? There's a term for it but I don't remember what it was. I'd be grateful to know if this software has the feature I have read the manual & scanned the table of contents as well as the glossary or index, but not recalling the phrase for the feature I want it's difficult to find. It's not easy using the picker tool & manually making a shape & filling it from the photo. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi

This sounds like you are referring to creating Custom colour palettes - is this correct?

. . . . I've seen one art instructor use a photo editing program to do this . . .

Was the artist using Photo and Graphic Designer? If this is on Youtube/Vimeo, a link may help.

I assume form this post that your previous post is resolved - would you please mark, or give the solution, as resolved.

Hi, Thx for replying to my question. This is my 1st time here so I don't know how to find my previous post. I tried to see the program he was using for color picking but couldn't see it. I could send the link but he doesn't refer to the photo editing software or show it on the screen much in the total one-hour video. I'll ask him in the comments section of his video. But, does my Photo & Graphic Design 12.5.1 have this feature? Thank you. Oh, how do I find my previous post? Sandy

I haven't been able to authenticate my program so no, my previous post ques. isn't answered that I know of. There were many errors & tech. glitches trying to just register. I kept getting a msg. -14 even when I had checked & rechecked the numbers & letters in the registration code, it won't accept it. I can't open the program so as of now I can't use it. I'd appreciate help with that. If it's not in your area ps. let me know who else to contact. None of the web sites seem to cooperate with me. Thx Sandy

I need to begin using my new Photo & Graphic Design 365 v12.5.1 but haven't found a solution to the error -14. Authentication is impossible as it continues to tell me that the ser. # is invalid. Where can I get help with this? Thx. Sandy
