Collage with FIVE photos

FF22 wrote on 11/9/2023, 5:23 PM

I'm back...

I just did this the other day BUT....

I have five photos. I am trying to create a collage using what I'll call the SWEEP and rotate out COLLAGE. It is in the first row of FIVE and it is the THIRD option on that row. I have the five photos on the timeline adjacent to each other. No matter whether I group the five together or leave them separate, when I apply that collage, only one photo is used in all five iterations.

Hi,

I presume that you are trying to use the collage with the name "5 Obj. 03" is this correct?

I put 5 images on the timeline, selected the first one and placed the playback marker at the beginning of this first object, then applied the collage and it works fine.

Please show a screen shot of the entire interface with the images on the timeline and the collage selected, before applying the collage. Apply the collage

then put the timeline full-screen by clicking on the small square at the upper right of the timeline, move the playback marker about half way along the collage and take and post another screen shot.

I'm using MMS2024 Suite but it should always have worked in older versions.

Hi.

Do you have enough tracks directly beneath the images to enable the collage as in John's example?

Yes, that is the Collage I'm attempting to use (and have used in the past few days).

Here's the screenshots including the middle one showing that the second photo is the same as the first as the collage is running. The last image shows I have sufficient tracks to store the result. And I have exited the program and reloaded.

Hi,

Strange. In your third image, the photo is on track 1, but it should now be Collage like in my image, so something is going wrong.

Also, I don't understand your second image as it shows that there is a collage in the preview monitor.

Have you tried any of the other 5 object collages? Successful?

Yes, I guess that topmost image retains the photo's name. I have see where it does become COLLAGE. And, the process is creating the collage images stacked down the tracks which is why the second image shows a functioning collage but all with the same image.

And I did try other 5-image collages and they had the same wrong result. But here one I just tried with the first 5-collage option. Again, the photo retains its name but a collage is clearly happening with the attached lower tracks. And before this run, I rebooted my Win10 computer. But seriously this worked yesterday. Is there some way of refreshing the template files? Hmm as a work around I wonder if I can copy the effects of all those lower images to my other images???? But that really should not be necessary! And, again, thanks for your interest.

I just tried with 4 and 3 collage options. Still does not work.

I just tried REMOVING the templates using Win's add/remove programs. But they were still there. But now I'm RE-adding them again from the HELP/Install. They are reloading. If these are the MOVIE Templates?

@browj2 @FF22 Hi, just thought I'd see how it looks on mine, strange thing (unless I'm missing something) is that I no longer get the notice board background in any of the collage options, got to be honest I really don't like that notice board so I'm happy it's gone but it still begs questions as to where, when n why it's gone ? + of course why i get a different result to you two.

Hi

. . . . I just tried with 4 and 3 collage options. Still does not work. . . .

I too cannot replicate the issue you are having, the fact that the collages were working and now are not would suggest:

The MEP ini file has corrupted - try resetting MEP 2020 to its default settings - File, Settings, Reset settings to default - do note this will reset any customisation you have made to MEP. Then repeat the test with a new project.

A bit of a long shot possibilities:

  1. Access to the folder

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\Movie Edit Pro Plus\VideoEffects\Collage

is being blocked by your Antivirus. Try turning off the Folder protection/Ransomware feature of the AV.

  2. Try running the program in Administrator mode - right click the program shortcut and select Run as administrator to see if the collage works

  3. One or more collage component files has/have been deleted from the above folder location, eg the .ini files or other support files are missing. In this case, a full re-install of the Extra content is necessary after ensuring that all the content in the above folder has been removed - preferably to a temporary folder until the re-install has been completed and tested.

I cannot remember ever seeing this for collages - do you mean the 3D Pinboard transition effect?

It is solved but I'm not sure what the issue is/was. It appears that there was something amiss with the group of my five photos or one of them. When I tried using another five photos it worked. I don't think that the file(s) were protected (write or hidden, etc). Going back to those original five - it again was "broken!" I've now copied those five photos to another sub directory and can, again, use them. Computers as well as Magix just sometimes do what they want (from a guy who was a Cobol programmer back in the 70's and sometimes it feels like the 1870's!)

But thanks for hanging in there.

Here's one snippet and the collage

Hi,

Yes, it's a photo of a notice board. For some forgotten reason, I have this in my demonstration folder for Seasons, Summer.

Hi

Pleased to hear the issue is sorted, though puzzling why those 5 photos were 'blocked'.

I thought Cobol was so 1870's 😂 - in the mid 70's days I was Fortran 66 programming on a mainframe computer.
