Cassette to mp3

Hi,
My HP laptop has only one port for headphones.
And, I want to convert my cassettes to mp3 with sound forge.
I have to buy an external usb sound card.
I found only two port- sound cards in the shops in my country.
One port for microphone and the other for headphone.
There is no line-in.
Is it OK to record from cassette to laptop using the microphone port.
Or what can I do?
Thanks

The microphone port is probably monophonic only. You wouldn't want to use that to record stereophonic cassettes. If you want a cheap stereo USB interface, you might start looking on Amazon.

In addition, most consumer cassette decks output unbalanced line level (-10dB), via RCA/phono connectors, so feeding a microphone level (-60dB) input would distort.
As Poinzy stated, get a USB interface that supports line level. (like one of these)

Is this OK for me as a line-in to record from cassettes to the laptop?

Looks like that should do the job.
