Cannot Record Audio/Hear

MidnightCoffee wrote on 12/4/2020, 7:05 AM

Hello, I picked up Music Maker yesterday and it is very fun. I'm trying to record some audio with a cheap mic (Razer Seiren X), and after figuring out how to use the mic, I realised the software was muted. I had to swap back to using my headset (Razer Kraken), but it removed the recording from the project. Is there a way to tell Music Maker I want to use a mic for recording, and a headset for hearing? Thank you!

@MidnightCoffee

You need to set up your in- and outputs inside the Magix Low Latency driver settings.

Here is a picture showing the settings menu:

Thank you so much. Yes, I did that, but once I finish recording with the mic, I have to change it back to my headset, and when I change back to the headset it deletes the mic recording. :(

Hi,

I am having trouble understanding how the recording could be deleted by just changing the settings back to the headset. At the end of recording you press on the button to stop recording, right? Is the recording on the Arranger?

Click on the parameter button (gear-shaped) beside the red record button. This is where you indicated which device you want to record with. Is it set for your mic?

Note the file name and location of the recording. When you press stop, the file is saved there, it is not deleted. Even if you delete the recording from the Arranger, the file is still on your hard drive. In fact, the recording is never actually in Music Maker, it only reads from the saved file and displays that file as a waveform on the screen.

Hmm, this may be where I'm going wrong as I've only had a little play with it so far. I don't think I'm properly saving it. I end the recording, but the whole software is muted, presumably because my mic isn't a speaker, but has the option to plug my head-set into it. I can play it back but not hear a thing (even going into other projects that DEFINITELY work). I have to go back into settings, change them all back to what it was before, and then the recording is deleted from the project. I'll have another look, thankyou.

@MidnightCoffee

Having made your recording, are you taking care to deselect/deactivate the Audio Rec button on the track that you are recording in?
