I've seen a few similar problems raised on other video forums.  The general concensus seems to be that it may be that there is no driver for your CD/DVD writer in Windows 8.

Can you burn CDs etc in any other program on your computer?  If so, it may be a problem between MEP/VPX and Win 8; if not, I would suspect the lack of driver to be the problem and you would need to find the support site of the burner's manufacturer and look for updated (Win 8) driver and/or firmware.

Also, you might want to check out the MAGIX site for any updated "Burn Routine" files.

Thanks for your reply. As I was looking around the message board I came across a  program Magix has provided and it did the trick, the video editor now sees my DVD burner. The name of the program is :

point_update_2012

I don't have the link handy right now but I'll look for it and repost it for anyone else that needs it.

i have the same problem. i also have windows 8. when i try to burn my video project an error appears whcih says, DVD maker dll detected a version conflict, please contact magix support. the program version requires DLLAV32.DLL version 6.1.124 or higher.

 

i also download the 2010 magix burn routine and also the patch video dix 10.0.12.2 int but i still have the problem. i hope somebody here can help us.

the program worked when i had an old windows xp.
