Can't seem to find how to set SF12 Pro to record from where I left off

Using SF 12 Pro. Just set it up - Have the Manual Do not seem to be able to find where this is:

Currently when I press the stop button to stop a recording, the cursor moves to the beginning of the region I just recorded. If I don’t push the “end” button before I begin recording again I would erase everything I just had recorded. Is there a way to set it so that if I hit stop, the cursor will position itself at the end of the region where I have left off? There wasn't this problem on SF 9 Pro - and I still have it and checked the settings there and they look the same - BUT - it is not it appears! I do Voiceovers - This is CRITICAL that I find this!

When I record in AS14, I just hit 'pause' and, I think, 'pause' again when I want to take up where I left off. I don't know whether that is an option in SF12 or not.

No that doesn't work - when I stop and try to record again - it goes to the beginning of where I just recorded. You shouldn't have to set markers or anything - BUT EVEN SO - EVEN if THAT WAS an option or workaround - I ALSO use markers to delineate takes - SO that wouldn't work either!

The stop button (or space bar) has the same function in Record as in Playback, there are some work-around options though.
- One is to use Pause as @Former user suggested, to temporarily suspend recording (just like a l'tape' recorder),
- Another is to reverse the Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop in "Options> Preferences> General". Check-mark the box "F12 Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop" so the 'Stop' button (or spacebar) Pauses recording.
- SF can also automatically add region markers to new record segments.. or create a new window/file for every new record segment. The 'add region markers' and 'new window' options are in the "View> Record Options" menu in the Mode context menu,.

Hi rraud - Thank you for responding - but this doesn't actually address my question/problem - ALSO - BTW - the space bar does not STOP the record per se in SF 12 Pro - which is another problem - It [uts it in ARM mode - I have to figure out how to change a bunch of things including how to maintain my Audio Preference settings which do NOT seem to stay if you close SP!2 - BUT ANYWAY - My Question/Problem was:

If I am recording something - and stop to what have you adjust the mic, burp what have you - and then go back to recording it DOES NOT start the recording from where I left off which would be from the end of whatever I just recorded - BUT INSTEAD it will go back to any marker I MAY HAVE set or if I didn't yet set markers - it will go to the beginning of the file - NONE OF THE OTHER SF's did this - I've had 6-9 SF's. AND I DO NOT want it to go back to markers either as Those markers I use to define takes end or beginning - or what have you - so that would not work either. And of course I do NOT want to start recordings in new windows - SO - i have to answer to this problem and can't find it in the manual - BUT if you do a search - MANY MANY people have asked the same question - but I didn't see an answer.

SCS (Sony) changed the record UI in Pro11 (not for the better IMO*).. in addition to the changing the plug-in chainer (* same).

The Magix 'deep thinkers' are allegedly going to bring back the remote record window in the next build of Pro 14 (along with the missing 'textured background'). I do not know if that includes bringing back the "multiple takes mode" in legacy versions.

addendum: Pro 13 pauses recording in a linear fashion with the pause button or key. I do not have Pro 12 installed.to check that out. I suspect the same.

FWIW, I still use Pro10 for some operations.

Thank you - Yes I use SF9 - BUT I bought SF12 last year and was going to install it when I get a new laptop later this year - and kind os make it my Dedicated Audio/VO Laptop - EXCEPT - I wanted to use Izotope RX8 which I recently pruchased - I already have the RX5 special plugin pack that contrary to what Izotope will tell you - CAN be used w/SF - As it has been working fine in my SF9 - however - RX8 has amazing stuff for VO that the lower versions don't - But I couldn't get the RX8 to load into SF9 for some reason - so I thought - HEY go ahead and do the install of SF12 - and maybe it will work - WELL the install was LONGER than I feel it should have been - AND YES I KNOW it comes with some RX 8 elements - AND YES - I could have continued using the Stand alone RX 8 - which you also get when you buy it - So you can essentially do all your recording and processing from it and NOT even Use SF - but I like everything in one place - with less steps so I can go from project to project - ANYWAY - That's when I realized I should NOT have bought SF12 let alone install it - as - just like you said - They got rid of stuff they shouldn't and I as a rational human being - I Think like I assume most other rational human beings think - THAT - an UPGRADE means BETTER and you don't take away useful stuff you just make it better - RIGHT??!! - ANYWAY - WTF!! - SO - I think if I can't function properly w/ SF12 after using it for the next 2 weeks - MAGIX will get a call - OR I will find SOMEWAY - to get answers AND HELP FROM THEM!! - As I said I've bought SF 6 through 9 - THEY HAD BETTER have GOOD Customer Service!!

RX 8 may only be available as a 64 bit VST, which is likely way it will not open in the (32 bit) SF 9 host.

AHHH! Good point! and Maybe RX5 Plug n Pack was 32 bit?? HMMM- Thanks for that insight!
