Can't download photos from Iphone

bob-gove wrote on 7/6/2021, 6:50 PM

I cannot download photos from Iphone 11. Been to Apple with no help. Photo Manager pop up shows the photos on the iphone. Doesn't matter if I click on all, new only, or select. The program appears to freeze with window showing 1 photo out of xxxxx. Only way to close program is ctrl-alt-del. Alt-tab works to go to other apps but nothing to do with Photo Manager. Could there be a hidden window that I'm not seeing? Do you have a solution.

Hi

Try copying the images from the phone to your computer using Windows File Explorer, Photo Manager should then pick them up if you copy to an existing folder or subfolder which it is cataloguing.

Thanks. That seems like a lot of work for something that used to be seemless and automatic. Is there a link or other way to get direct support from Magix?

Hi

. . . . That seems like a lot of work for something that used to be seemless and automatic . . . .

Did this use to work with the same iPhone?

If so then the issue may be caused by a Windows update/upgrade changing your security settings.

To contact Support use the link at the top of the page - see this guide for navigating the support system.

In addition to @johnebaker's suggestion about a Windows change, recent updates to your phone's iOS may also have affected how this works, especially since Apple have been making changes to security settings.

Thanks for all replies. I'll just blame this on COVID. That's not exactly cynical. Only a hobby photographer on trips and family, taking photos, and as a result managing them, became rarer and rarer for 2020&2021. So it's been a while since I used Manager. New Iphone 11 and new laptop. Migrating photos to new laptop updated create date to migrate date. I see photos that were probably taken with the Iphone 11 in Manager. So I think that photos were downloaded prior to the new laptop.

I've googled "can't download photos", and I'd guess from all of the hits that this is a very big problem. Suggestions from Apple didn't help (reboot, different lightning connectorr), and they proclaimed it not an Apple problem. I was hoping Magix might have more experience since they have the Photo Manager (I have been a relatively long term subscriber by my guess).
