Can't connect mini DV camera

When i open the magix movie editor and i click on record, i then pick the DV camera it takes a few seconds but a new little window opens up saying cannot connect to the selected device

What does this mean? How can i fix it ?

Hi there,

What exactly is your camera (make/model) and how are you connecting it to your computer? Does Windows pick up on the connection?
