Can't change the font in the title, it doesn't stay

siegbrunn wrote on 5/4/2012, 5:53 PM

Hi, I'm brand new here. I've just bought MEP MX (v 11), used Magix Video Deluxe 2008 til now.

I'm trying to do a "caption" title (specifically "Waves") and am trying to change the default font (Tahoma) to "sandyTextBold" which I have installed. I double click on the text on the caption bar and change it, I can see the "Sandy" text. As soon as I click anywhere else, it reverts to the default text. This does not seem to happen with "Times new Roman" or "Trajan" which I tried. They seem to stay.

Is this a known problem with MEPMX?

Any help would be appreciated.

Karen

PS: I have Vista HP with all updates.

Hi

This is working OK for me using MEP MX.  The only thing I have to do is add one or two spaces at the end of the line to avoid chopping off the last letter.

When you installed the font did you extract the ttf from the zip file then right click the .ttf file and chose install or drag the ttf file to the Windows/Fonts folder or use the installer?

John

Thanks John for the quick answer.

As far as fonts go I'm an absolute font freak and have over 5,000 fonts stored (not installed i hasten say) on my PC. I do a lot of graphic work with posters and such and I use them.

I install and uninstall with "Font Navigator" from Bitstream. You should also know that I have *two* font folders: one where the Windows fonts are and whatever fonts get installed behind my back so to speak, and a second one in my personal file area with the bulk of my fonts. All fonts are of course first unzipped before placing the .ttf or .otf in my font directory.

I have never had this problem before with another program, installed is installed, so I don't know what to make of it.

Hi Karen

The only thing I can think of is that if the font is not installed in the default font location  - ie Windows/Fonts then MEP cannot remember it.

I do not use a Font Manager to install fonts - I just right click the ttf and select Install from the options, Windows takes care of the rest.

In case anyone has such a problem, I THINK the answer lies in what John wrote in his last answer:

It seems to hit the nail on the head. I find this very irritating and personally qualify this as a "bug". I'm going to look around and see if I can register this with Magix.

Thanks John for the help

Na ja, it seems that there is no solution other than dumping all my fonts in the same pot. I really don't understand why Magix cannot make full use of a font that windows has installed. This is a first for any program I've had. I doubt that Magix sees it as a bug, but I consider it one.

Oddly enough, with VideoDeluxe 2008 this was not a problem

Anyway, thanks John for the lead, I do think that is the answer.
