Can't change install path for soundpools

ConVito wrote on 3/26/2018, 5:43 PM

I got Music Maker "80s Edition" from Humble Bundle a little while back. Finally got around to installing it today and, naturally, I'm having issues. (Windows 10 Pro)

First, I couldn't access my soundpools because Music Maker apparently can't read its own files (mxcogg).

Then I saw a post suggesting I reinstall the whole program and point the soundpool install path to my personal user folder, rather than the default "public" folder.

Except, funny thing, I can't do that. The option to do so is grayed out, and is in fact the only option that is grayed out, as shown here: https://i.imgur.com/2Ltz3bp.png

I would greatly appreciate some help. I realize I got this on sale, but I'd still much rather not have wasted my money on a program that turns out to be entirely useless.

Hi,

That is not where the path to the Soundpools is indicated. Watch my tutorial on Soundpools and where they are located and what to set.

If you still have trouble, come back with info on where your Soundpools actually end up being located.

Well, reinstalling the whole program and then adding all the soundpools manually via "add new soundpools" somehow made them work. Sure. Makes about as much sense as everything else so far.

Now my problem is that the program won't re-activate. Every time I try with the code I was given by Humble, I see this. https://i.imgur.com/jFUkzgd.png

I can't click either of the activate buttons. There's no indication that I'm using a trial version, but there's also no "de-activate" option under help, so I can only assume it's not registered.

Hi,

Make sure that the activation code that you are using starts with P3, use copy and paste so that you don't have any mistakes in the code. You use the new Activation.

You received a code for the Soundpool that sarts with G3. That is not an activation code for the program, only for when you go to get the Soundpool from the Store and purchase it. Then you put in the coupon code.

It definitely starts with P3. And now it's saying it can't activate because I already own all content from that serial number. I assume that means the program is automatically activated on this computer now.

@ConVito

I don't understand. If you put in the code and clicked on the Activate button, which you say that you couldn't do before, and it tells you that you already own all of the content, it means that you have already activated. Do you have another version of MusicMaker that you also activated?

Did you go into all of the places in the Store and download/install everything as per this tutorial?

Do you still have a problem with anything?

When I paste the code and click the (grayed out) activate button, that's what it tells me.

For all intents and purposes, it seems like the program works fine. I've installed and downloaded everything. I just think it's weird that the "activate" option is still there when it seems to already be activated.

The only other version I had of this is this exact same version, which I uninstalled and now reinstalled.
