@Paul-Fox

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

An MVP file is not a video file but an instruction set to tell the Magix program how to put the video files together that you edited ready for exporting to a rendered video file type like MP4 of HEVC. It still needs all your original video files to open a project. Depending on how you make your project the video files must either stay in their original folder so the program can find them to use them or the video files should be saved with the project.

To save as a playable video file you need to render the project to a video file format such as MP4.

Or do you mean something else?

Ray.

Hi

. . . . most of them are now saved with an mv file . . . .

There are 2 types of project files saved by MEP:

  1. .MVP as @CubeAce has described, is the saved project file - try opening this from within MEP, select File, Open, and browse to the folder location where they are saved.

  2. .MV_ which is an autosaved backup file, to open them in MEP select File, Open, from the File type drop down select All files and browse to the folder location where they are saved.

    Note: there may be up to 10 backup files with a numbered sequence:

    ....BAK0.MV_ through to ....BAK9.MV_ as shown below

    the number is a rotating sequence 0 through 9 once 9 is reached the oldest backup file is replaced and does not necessarily mean the highest number is the later version - go by the Date modified timestamp of the file

Thanks, its interesting, I do not see the big blue M sign for the Magix saved file anymore, I used to in some of the locations I remember, but I can't seem to locate that.

Hi

The M files are HDP files and can be recreated if needed. HDP and H0 files are responsible for creating graphics within the program so you can see things like the wave forms on the tracks for instance. Having them missing doesn't actually harm playback or exporting.
