Yes sir. I have been searching for solutions for hours. I found a couple things to try on a allwins webpage. Not much help from Magix and forum. Best advice is keep trying until I find a solution. I have contacted magix. They want me to a system check on my computer. Nothing wrong with my computer.  I have burned a dvd from the file I am trying to use in Magix on a different PC using Nero with no problems. I would like to use the Magix beacuse of some of the features it has, but it is not looking very good at this time. Seems like a lot of people( from the info on the forum) have a lot of problems just getting the software to work.

Well of course in a forum / q&a that's where you're going to hear people with problems, because that's what it's for.  Go to any product's forum and see. :-)  And when something does work, few people go out of their way to find a forum, sign up for it, and just post "Hey this works great for me." :-)  The closest to that you might get are public review sites, like amazon.com or newegg, where people are already signed up.

I'm here posting about a particular problem too.  But the program works great for me.  I've made a number of rather cool videos that I've posted to youtube, and made and burned some DVDs with custom menus, chapter settings, and the like.  I've used demo version of several other major editors before deciding on MEP, and they all had problems handling the videos I wanted use, or what I wanted to output.  So I don't think you can find a "perfect" app yet, sadly.

But that doesn't make your issue any less of a problem for you.  I know how that is.  I recall having some problems (might have even been the same error, now that I think of it!) when first doing my dvds.  But turned out I was trying to burn to the wrong drive, so it couldn't burn the menu to the disc!   D'oh.

But sounds like that might be along the lines of what it's complaining about.  Are you on Windows?  Which one (XP/7/etc)?  Can you burn files direct to the DVD (drag & drop) or with another app?  Maybe try encoding just to a directory/image, and then use another app to burn the image to the dvd and see what that does.

Yes sir. I have been searching for solutions for hours.

Then I expect you'll have found my suggested approach for burning DVDs, such as here:

http://www.magix.info/uk/incomplete-burning-of-disk-using-mep-17..knowledge.648049.html

However, as it seems you're not getting past the rendering stage, that obviously won't help.

But you've still given very little for info anyone to work on.

"A DVD." What type of DVD, what settings, what size, what menu template?

"My laptop." What specs, what OS?

And what exactly have you tried so far? Does the edited DVD play OK on the timeline in Edit mode? After preparing the menu in Burn mode, does it preview OK? Does it play in the Arranger? Does it give identical error messages with any menu template? Have you successfully burned other DVDs? With the same template and other video/audio settings? Etc, etc.

Without that sort of detail, we're just guessing. That's what the sticky is intended to avoid.

I finally made a dvd with your help, help from other webpages and Magix.

I downloaded updated drivers from Magix.

I made an Iso image using the image recorder function.

I burned the image to a dvd using Roxio. I also found that when you make an image file, the Magix program will not burn a dvd. I needed to use another type of program like Roxio or Nero.
