Hi

We need more information.

. . . . I've checked and the file and directory are there and have the VOB, IFO and BUP files in there . . . .

Do you mean the source files or the 'burned disc?

Depending on the version of Video Pro X locate the Burn log located in either:

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Program version\dbk.log

or

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Program version\Program version.log

Go to the end of the bottom text and moving backwards through the log locate the line containing:

   [DiscMaker]: Step 1 of 5, Encoding movie 1 ...

Copy this and the following lines to the line that includes an error message or 'End operation Recording' and paste them in your reply.

Hi Bob

Thanks for the burn log info.

Assuming the folder C:\Users\Bob\Documents\MAGIX\Video_Pro_X4\Disc Images\DVD Image 2023-06-10 containing the VOB, IFO and BUP files, is there then the cause of the failure is either:

  1. You Antivirus Protected folder/Realtime protection/Ransomware protection features are blocking the burn program accessing it.

    or

  2. There is a bug, where upon the first write not detecting a disc in the drive, loses the file path once a disc is inserted and tries to burn again.

I would suggest you try the following workflow for creating disks, there are a few more steps, however this will let you check the disc before burning to DVD disc and save you creating 'coasters' ie bad disks:-

  • From the Burn dialogs set the burn to Image Recorder, on clicking the Burn icon you will be asked where to save the disc image (ISO file) to and the disc image will be created, barring any errors in the project.

Using Windows File Explorer:

  • Double click the ISO file, this will mount the image as a new disc drive which you can then play and check using a program such as VLC - VLC supports the menu system many other players do not.

If the playback etc is OK then right click the 'disc drive' and eject it - this will close the ISO file. If you spotted errors, eject the 'disc drive' and go back and re-edit/fix the error, and repeat the export/test again.

  • Insert a blank disc into the DVD burner - right click the ISO file and select Burn disc image

  • You should then have a playable disc with no issues.

Hi Bob

Thanks for the feedback and link to the video.

The play is very on point about life as we grow older and lose friends and family, well shot, acted and poignant with a good dose of humour.
