Hey people, good afternoon (At least here in the Middle-East)

Well perhaps this is not related to MEP. But for sure the term is a jargon that is used ofen here in the forum. I really am ashamed to ask this silly question: What is a BUG? Many usuers (Mainly Terry) use the term...I check ed Google but that is bit too confusing.

Is it some kind of loophole or da problem ?

Thanks.

Hi Anirban,

Bug usually refers to a problem or glitch in a piece of software.  From Wikipedia A software bug is an error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program or system that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or causes it to behave in unintended ways. Most bugs arise from mistakes and errors made by people in either a program's source code or its design, and a few are caused by compilers producing incorrect code. A program that contains a large number of bugs, and/or bugs that seriously interfere with its functionality, is said to be buggy.

Dear George thanks for the so prompt reply.

1. But how does that bug arise in my system. Is the company to be blamed or me.

2. If that is me (Usuer), then what  have the usuer done that created these bugs?

3. And if he is responsible, what precautions he must take to avaoid such bugs?

4. And how do I know that I have bugs in my system?

Thanks one again George.

Hi Anriban,

A true software bug is just some error in the code and there is nothing that you can do about it.  Virtually all software code likely has some form of bug.  The windows operating system is full of them which is one reasone they send out so many updates.

This term is nothing like a virus or a trojan or any other form of malware, it is simply defective software code.  Bugs are usually dealt with via software updates or patches which is one good reason to make sure you are running with the latest update or patch.

You also have to be careful when you see someone use the term bug.  Some people claim that software has a bug when they can't figure out how to do something or the do something and did not get what they wanted or expected.

If the Terry you are talking about is terrypin, and he says something is a bug, I would believe him because he most likely would have tested and confirme there was actually an error in the application, and not a user problem.

Don't worry about this term, to you it means virtually nothing.
