Birdline Platinum Pack V.6.0

SJT wrote on 12/3/2017, 3:10 PM

I just purchased Samplitude Pro X3Suite and it included Birdline Platinum Pack V.6.0 from skins.birdline.gr, which I did download. It will not install on my computer. I get several warnings from Microsoft Wndows 10 and also warnings from Norton to not install it as it is a security risk by not having the proper certifications. I went and tried to install it anyway and it just hangs up halfway through the procedure. It will not install. I see that others are having similar problems with this. How can you get this corrected?

Hmmm, I'm just downloading this now. Getting ready to install it myself. I'm sorry to hear having issues.

Cheers and may the Music Season be 24/7/365 !

I just completed and tested mine, all good. Here is what I did.....

I chose to extract all files in a sub folder as I always do upon clicking application install.

My Win 10 warning came up also, but clicked "more info" link in warning window, there it offers an "install anyways" option. I chose this. You can clearly see the Birdline company name in next window prior to installing.

That was it for me. It may be your Norton catching it midway through install depending on your A/V settings and filters. Up to you if you want to consider disabling Norton temporarily for install.

Generally its a good idea to have A/V shut off while using Music software anyway, they are system resource hogs usually, can cause issues sometimes. Just make sure you also disconnect from Internet while doing Music Creation also, another highly suggested practice so no background processes take memory away while you are recording/playback, etc.

Hope this helps somehow.

@SJT It's definitely not a security risk. I know the author Spyros and he is affiliated to Magix and even modifies some of the Magix skins. I suggest you contact Spyros here info@birdline.gr and explain your problems. I was unaware of anyone else having problems like this. I have never had problems installing his skins and they never hang during installation.

Update: OK so I tried installing them. They take quite a while to unzip. Once you do that and click on the installation icon there was quite a long delay before the Microsoft warning arrives. Incidentally this is not unusual. I have installed several apps from reputable vendors which give a similar warning. After that I went ahead with the install procedure and it worked with no problems. However I will contact Spyro's myself to ask why it takes so long to get to the installation dialogue. I don't bother using Norton any more I used to use it but I just use Windows Defender which comes with Windows 10 and it does the job and and it's pretty unobtrusive.

To gregrband: I took your advise on disabling Norton, and install went great. Thank you for the assistance. This forum with the means of getting advise is excellent. Thanks again to all the contributors. SJT

thats great to hear SJT! I'm glad my post comments helped in some way and that you got it going after all. I've never used Norton as times I've tried it was too much of a memory hog on my lower level computers years ago. Had the same experience with McAfee and a few other ones over the years honestly. Least obtrusive ones I've used are the Avast and the new Windows Defender. Years ago I tried Kaspersky and it worked great way back then as I recall. Did one year thru System Mechanic too. Don't recall big issues there either. My brother uses AVG, but I've never tried that one.
