danstudio,

"...from some web site..." is no doubt your best bet. A search for the terms free video clip footage got nearly two and a half million hits! Some suggestions:

Generally you would want the background resolution to match (or better) you final output, but that is not really necessary. Depending on yoru band style you might do well with very much enlarged footage which breaks down to nearly abstract patterns.

Consider using additional band footage, not necessarily green screen shots, as the background -- altered perhaps in some way with MEP effects like pixelation or blur or color shifts. eg

For version comparison see: http://www.magix.com/us/movie-edit-pro/plus/innovations/

Definitly go for at least the 'Plus' version IMHO.

Carl

Hi Dan,

Magix is basically a movie editor and the backgrounds supplied are for those who need something fast and don't want to make their own. They are just images or short video clips. Any image or video can work as a background. You can take your camera and film something and use it. You can add effects.

If you really want to purchase more, you can buy them from Magix on the Catooh.com site. Look under the Video tab. Remember that you will require the appropriate professional license for anything that you use commercially from Magix/Catooh, including background images and videos.

Look at this clip I did from a screen capture of a waveform that moves to a dancer in a video that comes with Magix Movie Maker. The speed of the dancing video was adjusted for the beat. The waveform is "dancing" to the colours in the video, not the music. I imported the captured video into MEP, resized and zoomed it, and added some effects like colour and distortion. This type of clip could be used as a background. You have to use your imagination.

Let us know what you come up with.
