I'm trying to see if I can undo the damage now. But I don't think Avast has finish sandboxing stuff yet.

In VPX, just changing the view from effects to store triggered another sandboxing

I also had problems with the latest Intel GPU drivers that got stuck in an install loop. Apparently two new versions of the driver were awaiting.

OK.

Panic over and VPX is restored but I had a total of 11 dll files sandboxed. The Intel UHD Graphics 630 Vers 27.20.100.8587 is now installed and running.

I will now see if the same thing happens to MEP.

I just had to go through the whole process again with MEP. Total and files types exactly the same.

Tried all my other major programs and no further interruptions from Avast.

Very odd and a bit scary.

Check the programs are entered in the Blocked and Allowed Apps dialog of the Ransomware shield (click the cog).

I will do but have never needed to in the past. Maybe this is a wakeup call for me.

At least I know why your system wasn't effected but still puzzled why only Magix software seemed to be effected on my system.

I wonder if Magix has been updating it's program security measures?

Same here Ray, I reinstalled MEP, added MEP to AVG's Allowed App box but it still put many C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Plus\2020\ImageProcessingPlugins\ in Quarantine, they're now restored & in the Exception folder/box, I too have never had to do anything to let MEP run,

It did it to the same files in both programs. Hasn't touched any other program. Odd it should happen when I had Intel driver updates ready to be downloaded as well. Those kept looping after sorting the Magix programs out but after doing a complete shutdown they eventually loaded. I did try a restart first but that didn't clear the problem with the intel driver update.

👍 Sounds similar to me, updates failing to install, clean n restart pc, still don't install but kept trying n no real change in anything but then they did install?? it's all beyond me, 🙃 I share to get help but also to show like you it's not just me this is happening to,

I just find it very coincidental we both of us had Intel drivers awaiting download and Avast Sandboxing only Magix dll. files on starting up the programs.

In the Effects section of VPX. Effect-Lookup-Tables also triggered an Avast Sandbox containment.

Nothing else though.

Hi Ray, I'm in the UK so it's bed time for me when you & others reply.

Does your serviceGUI still say 22/07/2020, i just looked at mine & it is exactly the same as it was when i posted a pic on the other post i created, i think that date matched yours & because it was a similar date to when the Intel driver stopped installing correctly on it's own, I've had a notice of Magix services update in the last wk or so & i think that is what rolled back the intel driver to 7262 again, this time tho to confuse things AVG decided to see MEP plugins as threats

I'd sort of worked that out for myself by the time that was posted😉 😡. Still good to know the backroom boys are on top of things. Nothing to do with their updates of course 😜.

So now I can have at least one working copy of the program assuming everything will not go well with the upgrade of MEP 😆😅. I wonder which will be smoother? New MEP or old VPX?

Have updated MEP to 2021 version. Had one more Sandbox incident involving updating New Blue Colorfast 2 as none of the third party effects immediately installed. After which sorting out and restarting MEP, found all third party effects had installed. All work except New Blue Titler 6 that still refuses to start. Even Boris Titler reinstalled with no problem. Still can't use Boris Particle Illusion stand alone but that's another story.

Editing screen does look sharper. Will have to leave the rest for now to go to work soon.

168 items it says at the bottom of mine but mine is MEP Plus not Premium, 😉

Variant makes no difference, you don't have some 3rd party features the Premium version has

That number seems excessive, however - the detection is not the normal virus definition based, it is a heuristic detection, ie the Avast/AVG search for files that demonstrate a Trojan virus like nature - so the number and files may be different for different users.

A Malwarebytes scan of the Magix root folder returned no threats.

MEP update went without problems, the only thing i had to do was add the new program to AVG's Allowed Apps list but at least this time i was given the option by AVG straight away,

I had to add the new program to the graphics in setting to make it use Intel graphics for faster export

So far no Plug-ins have been rejected & gone into Quarantine but i haven't played with MEP too much yet.& all the ones i gave an Exception to from the 2020 MEP are sill on the exceptions list so whether it sees those in the new 2021 MEP as already excepted,

I have taken a more drastic path - a folder exception - with Avast then adding individual exceptions - is easier to manage

under Menu, Settings
