Audio Video Sync Problem

duftopia wrote on 8/3/2010, 1:51 PM
I am trying to get a TIVO movie on to dvd the a/V do not sync, I've tried the Choose "Create (new) frame table" but that makes the problem worse.

The Tivo file was downloaded to my computer, converted to mpeg and runs Perfectly on Windows Media player.

I run Windows 7 on a corei7 920.

The upper left hand corner on the Magix Pro editor when playing the video seems to experience a stutter on occassion, I;ve made 3 coaster trying to use various features from magixs to get this show on to a DVD.

Again the Frame table option does not work, I tried to ungroup the video and audio and sync them manually - but I guess I am too new to the product and can't seem to navigate it to reach that precision.

Any Help in this matter would be appreciated

hey. To be honest it sounds like your capture dropped some frames possibly due to a data issue. How far dose it go out of sync? when you stop it and play it  dose it seem to be insync again? what IS? the frame rate of your session? I don't have a tivo so i don't know how it saves files but with other DDR's i've used the frame rate still matters. You can try to open a new session in 29.97 Drop frame and see if that works or vise versa. If at the end of the day non of that works and you want to do it manually then you can. I'm reluctent to advise u on that simply becasue i don't know when and were the sound laggs That being said. Move the video to 1 hr mark on your time code that will be you ffoa (first frame of action) at 99.98 add your 2 pop and mark that on your audio as well. watch and note when the audio is starting to lagg and (scrub back and forth) to determain how many frames the audio is off. Instead of cutting the audio you may want to try to find a few Key frams that you can multiply or subtract from the picture with out it looking to noticable. Important to remeber its not your AUDIO thats off its your picture.........."most likely" If it were the audio you would hear it slowdown or speed up.

In The Magix project windows it does not go out of sync, the Video seems to stutter on occassion, but stays in sync with the audio.

I tried to re-create the frames then I tried to re-create the audio waveform 3 coasters later the entire result is still out of sync.

The finalized DVD has a slow lag of sound, at the begging the audio is missing completely yet in the magix project window it all seems almost okay?

I really can't match frames because the project does not reflect the final burn, but I definatly notice while playing the movie in the project window the video seems to stop rewind and continue like its trying to re-sync itself to the audio on occassion

Again the odd thing is that MS MEdia player has no issues, and I just tried avsvideo converter which seems to also have no issues reading & burning! How can I synce something manually when the program does not indicate a sync problem until AFTER it burns?

After file export the sync the issue becomes obvious, during the project the video stutters then syncs itself.

The File export cannot be synced, when moving ungrouped a/v and/or frames only a portion can be synced, if I sync the beggining then the end is out of sync and vice/versa.

Frame rate: when the project is loaded at 1920 x 1080 fps 29.97 it works with a stutter, if I do a file-settings-movie and change it to 25fps the video stutter in th eproject remains, if I do 29.97 fps (The correct rate the file identifys itself as from explorer) the stutter goes away and the audo is out of sync, making this a bug in the program but also an additional nuisance

By pop i assume you mean tag it and try to sync it at a specific point, this I did but the audio is completely different from the video, sosync it at one point and later its outs of sync, sync it at a later point and earlier its out of sync.

sorry i was away for a few days.

(I have no clue why you were advised to use a multieplexer as your dumping a file on your computer and not capturing. Even if you use a scan converter would be the better option for multieplexing but why drop 900 dollars on a unit to use the softwear. ) Doom9 is an awsome forum i'd be interested to hear what people there suggest!

is it possible theres a problem with your burner? have you exported the movie as another file and then retried the burn

I geuss it could be alot of differnt things. You asked how you would sync something manually. the answer is using a black burst generator, however in the studio our computers and decks all sync togeather. The fact that you say it works in a player just not exporting from the editing softwear kinda assumes 2 reasons gennerally. A) you have a data rate issue and your computer simply isn't powerful enouph to run the program and burn properly. or B) some how your time code keeps droping from 29.97 NON-DROP Frame to "Drop" frame you can spot this 2 ways. As a rule non drop frame rates will look like this. 00:00:00:00 Hr,min, sec, frame, drop frame will look like this. 00:00:00;00 (notice the semi colon) or you can read the time code on your time line every whole number in the time code for eg. 1 min 2 min ect you will see the code go from frame 29 to frame 01 and drop frame 30 a few minutes of this and your audio could appear to be shifted by several seconds.

i am very curious at this point so i'm gonna make a few calls myself. I have about 10 DVD's that i bought and they all have sync issues it was determained that the problem was they were bootlegged and burnned incorrectly For the longest time i thought it was my dvd player this was years ago mind you when i was still green to the industry but since then that has seemed to be the issue.

i'll do a bit of research on my end and send any possibilities to you.

cheers

I thank everyone in this forum for trying to help, I used MAGIX Music years ago and me and my clients all loved the professionalism and quality of the the program, PLUS years ago software developers in general really cared allot about there products, and Magix movie edit pro 16 is actually worth 3x its value in relationship to vegas and elements 8.

The people in this forum opened many new perspectives on A/V production for me and you really should be on someones payroll for the true expertise level you presented, but I no longer can putz around with bugs that developers find unprofittable to address so I had to move on to another package.

I need a solution for non-computer literate users as I am rapidly becoming that myself, I would have LOVED! to keep re-compiling and "tweaking" a program called DOOM from PROJECTX and eventually fix the problem but thats me 20 years ago! when cool was dreaming about dream girls and making a life!, Now I just want it simple and sweet and to find a shallow grave to relax in.  so I moved on to something that works right out of the proverbial download box

Nevertheless thanks everyone, and magix support for not sending me too many canned responses.
