Audio Sync Issues When Using the Speed Video Effect

The program I am using is Movie Edit Pro 2016. This has been my first time editing a larger project and I've noticed considerable lag after multiple uses of the Speed video effect. It wasn't so much of a problem in the beginning but after a segment of about 3 minutes that used the Speed effect the visual lag compared to the audio was very noticeable. Other than the audio and video being out of sync there have been no other problems with either that I have been able to find. I'm hopping that this can be solved with a simple fix in editing but I haven been able to find others with a problem like mine or any help from any of the manuals or training videos mentioning this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Cut off the "damaged" clip Ungroup video slow down or speed up audio or video.

Save your video as a project file with different names, e.g. cut 1, cut 2..., so you can always return to the point you want
