Audio/sound not importing when importing video file into timeline (Magix Video deluxe MX Plus)

Ever encountered this problem? I had this issue in a virtual Windows 7 machine which I had transferred into Parallels Desktop (on a MacBook Pro) from my old computer. Asked both Magix and Parallels support who both said probably an issue with the virtual machine.

However, I decided to

  1. Install K-Lite Codec Pack (hoping that it was a problem with the Magix codecs)
  2. In Magix went to File/Settings/Program/System (or rather in German: Datei/Einstellungen/Programm/System
  3. Deselect ("Abwählen") all import formats. Close Magix. Go back into same place and re-select all of them ("Auswählen")
  4. Now it is working! Not sure why exactly, and will probably be difficult to trace exactly, but I thought somebody might encounter the same problem.... I am chuffed!

Hi,

You've forgotten one key fact: the type of video file!

I've occasionally found that selective disabling of certain MEP import options has resolved problems with troublesome files. That's over many versions, from MEP 11 onwards But I've never disabled the whole lot. Given that I work with many types, that would just leave me waiting apprehensively for the next one to be rejected!

Or for better quality: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4019461/MEP-ImportOptions.jpg

So, apart from reporting on this particular file (e.g. Using MediaInfo or GSpot)  can you keep us posted please?

Terry,

you are quite right, I have actually not even tested exactly which files were affected, but my impression was that it was most container and codec combinations. Sorry cannot help any further as now "sadly" working....
