audio playback while previewing

Not-Applicable wrote on 3/30/2023, 12:48 PM

Hi - this is a separate question (seems it seemed someone had thought they were the same?)

This relates specifically to the audio playback.

When I am "previewing" the video - (i.e., speeding up/slowing down) - how do I get it to play the audio at a faster/slower speed in preview mode as well? Movie Studio Platinum did that fine. Shouldn't this be able to do that as well?

PLease let me know how. And yes, I've read the manual, looked online - its very difficult to find any information on how to do many things including youtube.

Thanks.

Hi,

Did you try turning on audio scrubbing? Right-click on the speaker button at the right of the timeline window button bar and select one of the Scrubbing parameters.

Thank-you. Was hard to find (also thought the 3 dots would open a context menu, didn't realize I had to 2nd mouse click it), but found it... thanks. Seems to work. Audio scrubbing is a bit 'choppy' though - any suggestions for that? (Movie studio platinum was smooth).

Also - if I use the mouse (as opposed to keyboard commands j/k/l) to control - is there a way of setting the "default" speed setting to say 2.5x? Thanks.

Hi

. . . .  if I use the mouse (as opposed to keyboard commands j/k/l) to control - is there a way of setting the "default" speed setting to say 2.5x? . . . .

No.

However using the j and l keys pressing once will playback at normal speed in either direction, press the same key again will increase the preview speed in discrete steps. eg press L twice will give you a faster playback speed press L again the speed will increase again, press J once will slow down to the previous speed or reverse playback if at normal speed.
