@AAProds & how do you propose we do that when the OP won't provide MediaInfo & we don't have a sample file from them?

What we're 'yakking' about that includes Vegas is related because @CubeAce seems to have problems in both programs with his file whereas I have no problem, If this can be resolved maybe the solution might impact the OP's final outcome or a resolve. & I'd like to point out it is the OP that has repeatedly said it worked in Vegas Movie Studio, so working out the difference might be key.

By letting the topic die until they respond. Put the responsibility back on them to help us help them by them providing the info we've asked for.

What could have and can be done in Vegas (Studio or Pro) will have no bearing on the resolution of their Magix problem; save that the file is "good" or "bad". Discussions about enabling QT are just noise.

Think of a third party coming along finding this topic title. After the first couple of posts, on and on they read, learning zero about solving the problem, wasting their time doing it because it no longer relates to the OPs issue. It annoys me when I'm looking for solutions like this and I find a topic that asks the question but then meanders off; I still have to read every post though just in case the solution pops up.

While my file is not the file in question it is exhibiting the exact same problems and has a mov. suffix, so I thought worth investigating.

I'm Wondering as @Gid gets my file to play in MMS whether it is down to his ADM based system.

If I could get @johnebaker to download my file to test then the problem could be hardware related as opposed to software related. But if John got it to play as well then there is something wrong or lacking with my system.

If I had not mentioned Vegas which @Gary-Beckwith mentioned had previously no problems with and as such I feel relevant, then perhaps Gid would not have requested the file and managed to play it in MMS which is relevant.

We get so many of these enquiries that Gid's system seems to cope with do you not wonder as to why?

Gary has 2 issues with the video being imported:-

1. Playback issue - this I covered in this comment
    
2. Audio issue - Rays, 'oddball' Sorenson encoded video clip giving a similar issue may be relevant once we have the audio encoding format from @Gary-Beckwith.

I have left the references to Vegas in this topic because another editor that is not Infusion based, can be a useful tool to cross-check whether the issue is with the video clip audio, ie the encoding format is one of the 'oddball' none standard combinations of video codec/audio codec, or lack of audio decoder or format support in MMS/VPX.

Fair enough. It's still annoying having to read each new post about Vegas until a "solution" is marked.

@Gid Unlikely as to my knowledge MPC, VLC and other free players don't make their codecs available to other software. Checking the codecs on my system only those associated with Windows Media Player plus Huffyuv (which I have for some old DV-AVI files) appear in the list.

Ray's Sorenson file appears to need QT. With the other editor discussed it needs to be activated in the "Deprecated Features" pane of Preferences. I suspect he may not have it ticked.

@ericlnz MPC - I did have my doubts so thanks for your thoughts.

I did mention to @CubeAce the Quicktime box that needs ticking in Depreciated features, his reply was 'I think there must be more project settings as ticking that didn't work for me.'

Perhaps @CubeAce would make his file publicly available, we could all then test it on our own versions of MMS,VPX & VP, that might help answer the question of his/our software or hardware

Hi. John EB tried my file on his system (Not sure if it was both systems or not but at least one).

He could not get the file to load into any of the three programs mentioned but it would play in his VLC player.

I have downloaded MPC-BE player in case and retried but still no improvement.

Do you have any additional video editors installed or could there be something in the Boris Effects suite that could identify the codec as identified it is compared to on my system. That seems to be the key.

Still more curious as if John can't even get the file to load in MMS or VPX, then I am at least one up in that sense.

Could it then be down to system components? That sort of doesn't make sense but is an additional difference between the three systems tried.

I have also checked my program setups are as close to Gid's as I am able to figure out and programs set to default with just the few changes already mentioned.

@CubeAce @Gid I've just recalled that in an earlier post Gid said "Right click the event on the timeline says qt7plug, I don't know enough about that to comment." I can comment - it shows VP was using Quicktime.

Ray, if you open your Quicktime player outside of an editor does it play your Sorenson file both video and audio?

@CubeAce Hi, interesting that John EB couldn't get it to load..

The only other programs I have that loads the video + audio are Vegas Effects (19) & Hitfilm Pro, both say No

Boris Mocha Pro standalone & Silhouette standalone are video only, they both import your file without problems.

I don't use this but just for the sake of it, DaVinci Resolve Free seems to load audio only,

I have rechecked on my PC and the Sorenson file will import, however it takes a ~25 secs before anything appears on the timeline and no audio, which is mp3 format and not normally found in modern 'standard' video file formats, IIRC it was commonly associated with h.262 encoded video.

The only difference between my PC and laptop is the PC has more video converters installed that are not on my laptop.

I don't have the player installed, only the codec. Not sure if Gid has the player either.

I'm suspecting at this point that Resolve or Boris Effects may be playing a part here.

@CubeAce Hi, forgot I had this as I never open it, Quicktime Player - no problemo 😎

PS, Quicktime Player took ages to load & show on screen from either opening from the Start menu or from right click on the file - Open with, I tried a few times & every time it showed in Taskmanager but took ages to show, this is Quicktime tho not your file as it happened with other AVC files I just tested, I got an invalid something or other from an HEVC file, I guess the old Quicktime isn't up to date with that format. .

Hi Gid.

Downloading QuickTime Player worked for Vegas but not for MMS / VPX so far. System needs a reboot probably but I'm currently running reliability checks on all my drives and that may take more than a few hours to complete first.

Thanks for the help as I'm not fussed which program gets a job done. Unfortunately until we get some info on the files @Gary-Beckwith is using we can't investigate further but I'm hopeful we get a reply. It would really help to know how that audio is recorded or at the least what device the files come from.

@CubeAce Good that you got VP to work, as you say at least you have one that will get the job done, & yes we need @Gary-Beckwith's MediaInfo or a sample from him.
