Are there major differences between MEP 16 and MEP 2213?

I have MEP 16 and am just in the learning stage of using it. I see in the Help section that the "Copy CD/DVD" is in the PLUS version only? What is this function? Is it similar to the Burn function? Is this included in the MEP 2013? Do you think that an upgrade to this new version is worthwhile for someone new to video editing?

In six months I'm getting a new desktop computer. If I put MEP 2013 on my present computer and register it, will I be able to transfer the software to my new computer without too many problems?

Hi Tommy,

My personal opinion unless you are thinking about upgrading to MEP 2013 Premium because you need all of the additions that the Premium package offers, or you edit a lot of AVCHD material, is to stick with what you have, learn how to use it, gain experience and then you will know if you want or need more than what you have.

I have MEP 18 and have seriously been considering upgrading only because I would like to have, not need to have digieffects Phenomena which is included in the MEP 2013 Premium package, but I am still weighing the cost versus my need to have it.

If you will be upgrading your computer in the next 6 months or so, even more reason to watch and see what develops in the video editing software market and Magix in particular.  I love the Magix products mostly because of their stability and work flow, but if you are still in the learning editing phase, stick with one product, learn how to use it to the maximum and then decide from there what you need.

I have been editing for more years than I care to imagine and it really always comes back to what you want versus what you need.  I currently run and own 3 editing programs, but I do this for a living and each one has something unique that I actually need, but you have to be willing to learn 3 applications with 3 different approaches to work flow and how to ingegrate them to create your final project.

MEP 2013 is faster, has more features, etc than previous versions, but if you don't need them why worry about it until it is time to replace your system and then see what Magix has available at that time.

Good Luck

George
