Are my magix applications saved when i make a WIN 10 system image

Hi! I received a Magix bundle with my laptop (MusicMaker 28.0.1.17, MusicMaker_64 31.0.1.1.13, Movie Edit pro plus 17.0.3.184, Fastcut 1.0.0.85 UDPP3, and Samplitude 23.0.2.58 DP3). I have experimented with them a bit, but have not saved anything. I understand that I can not move and run the Magix apps on an external hard drive (wish I could). My laptop (WIN 10 Home 64bit, 500/16 G ram, NvidiaGTX 1060, Intel i7) is aging and topping out storage. I have created a system image on an external hard drive in case the laptop should suddenly fail. I enjoy the Magix applications and don't want to lose them. Are they safe and entire on the external HD? Thank you.

The short answer is: "probably".  If you have a C: drive only, and if you configured the backup engine to take the whole drive, then yes, you should be fine.  If you have a modified backup plan, so that you take only portions of the drive or, you have a C:/D: setup, things get more complicated.  If you're not sure about the configuration, it would be best to take the laptop in to a local shop to verify that all bases are covered.

This seems like a respectable system, and should give you years of service yet.  The 500GB drive is the choke point, and you might want to see about replacing it with a 1 or 2 GB ssd drive.  This will give you some room to move, data-wise. But, of course, you still need to maintain backup procedures.

Thank you 🙂 gjonny!

I have only the C: drive. I would love to replace the hard drive, but my beloved IT guy shuttered his business to pursue life as a canoe river trip guide. The thought of leaving my machine in the hands of Best Buy gives me a headache.

The backup is through the Windows 'make a system image' and goes on a 500G Toshiba Canvio with its own backup software. Hopefully it should be ok. The system was restored two years ago.when a Microsoft update got stuck in its craw. I think he used a previous backup on the Toshiba HD.

I also use Carbonite. I know it backs up documents, photos and fonts. I'm not sure about applications or any of their add-ons.

Cheers!
