Alternatives to recording MVC to Blu-ray disc

xavi.conde wrote on 6/12/2013, 6:57 AM

Hello everyone,

while attempting to burn a blu-ray disc with an mvc 3D project on VideoPro X5, we're getting the following error: "current project contains data in MVC format (...) It is forbidden to burn this data to recordable (...)".

Could you provide us some alternative to burning our MVC project to blu-ray disc?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

MVC is really just a encoding format.  It stands for "Multiview Video Coding".

More info on this encoding format can be found here  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiview_Video_Coding

Here is where you can find some information on alternatives.  http://www.dashwood3d.com/help/mvc-and-stereo3d-toolbox/

I don't do much 3D work but perhaps others on the forum can offer more information.

Hi

There is a problem with the MVC codec as described here (in German - Google translate will give a readable translation) and the Main Concept encoder - AFAICS there has been no update yet on when the problem will be fixed by Main Concept.

As an alternative you can burn Side by Side half width - AFAIK most 3D TV will play this format - although with some you have to manually tell the TV the 3D is Side by Side.

I was given to understand that the MVC codec, that you can purchase or is included, is read only for the general public and has a massive licence fee in order to produce MVC encoded discs  - hence the message you are getting.
