Thank you John.  Maybe I should have indicated that I do not wish the respective titles to remain on throughout the duration of the movie...I find this distracting. So my goal is to place each title on for a period of approx 15secs at the head of each tune.

The text files that I have loaded are not for the full duration of the film. I only loaded in a small clip. You can change the duration of the text so it stays on the screen for the desired time you set, you can also have the text fade in, and fade out, and so it is very smooth and professional.

Above here, I have added in another screen shot, hopefully this, with the one I did previously will give you better insight to how it works.

Hi John,  Thank you for that, but there must be something that I am doing which is not correct. Will try and explain more in deatil.

I insert Tune Title 1 on Trk 3 at my designated point.  Time it for 15 secs and fade in/out

I move to the commencement of the second tune and select the captions editor again.

I change the title and apply.

At this point I would expect to see Tune title 2 in the position I selected.

WRONG!

Tune title 1 changes to Tune title 2 which remains in the position that I originally selected for Tune title 1.  

It doesn't matter what I enter, I can never add the second or third titles in the designated positions...they default to position one and adopt whatever title I last compiled.

Thinking that I had to save each one I did so with Title 1. Even shut the programme down and then opened it again.

Guess what...when I came to insert the Title 2, it wiped the 'saved' version and subsituted it with the Title 2.

As I understand it all titles are designed to go on Trk 3.  Have never had reason to try this type of sequence before, so clearly there must be something I am not NOT doing between changing the titles.

Adding to john-auvil: First, titles do auto go to track three if you double click on them but they (and just about any object type) can be placed on (just about) any track. AFAIK the only limitations involve some effects which have to be applied on track one objects to be compatible with 'Storyboard' rather than 'Timeline' mode, and collages.

It seems your problem is doing what you should to edit a title, rather than placing new text objects on the timelines as john's picture shows. You can either drag additional ones from the media pool or, perhaps better, do a copy / paste from your first one. The advantage being that if you have applied say a favorite font or color, you don't have to do it over and over again -- you just edit the text.

Place each title's start in line with the beginning of its tune clip and then click/drag the end of the title to give you your fifteen second duration (or set it in the title edit window). I'd probably fade out the title rather than stopping abruptly.
