Welcome to both of you to the Magix forums, and apologies that no-one has previously replied to the OP.

As far as I am aware there is no need for a code in order to run the Free version of MM. I assume, when first opening the program, you see a screen which asks you to enter your serial key? I think you should be able to click Cancel (or similar) to bypass the screen and then the program will run?

I apologise if the above is completely wrong. I don't have the free version of MM so can't check this.

Hi,

Neither MusicMaker 2019 nor 2020 requires an activation code. There is no requirement to input an activation code. If you have an activation code for a previous version or a new version of Plus or Premium, it will unlock other features and, for the newer version, supply credits at the bottom of the screens in the Store that can be used.

See this tutorial:

The new version has a different look, but the same applies, no activation code is required to use the program.

You have to register with Magix to have a user name and password, then you log in to the Store within MusicMaker. Did you try this?

Do you have the latest 2020 version?

No. As I said, I have the free version and have been told that I don't need to register. I now realise that I can only download extras if I have a paid-for version of MMM.

Sorry, but that must be a misunderstanding. You need to have a MAGIX customer account and use that account to log into the in-app store system within Music Maker to be able to purchase something from the store. However, you don't need to have a paid-for version and you're not obligated to enter a serial number in order to accomplish that. Yes, you will be shown the "MAGIX account" dialogue, which has both the blue "LOG IN" button and the field for the serial number. This doesn't mean you need to use the latter. Just using the former to sign into the system will be sufficient.
