Activate MPEG-4 codec fails. Movie Edit Pro 2014 Plus Version 13.0.5

DonVido wrote on 6/20/2022, 2:26 AM

I'm running Movie Edit Pro 2014 Plus Version 13.0.5.5 (UDC2) as administrator.

I was trying to activate MPEG-4 codec online  but it failed. So I tried offline activation instead:

So far so good. But when I enter the activation code in MEP and click Activate , I get error message: MPEG-4 Basic activation failed. Why is that?

Operating system: Windows 11 Home Version 22H2 Build 22621.105 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22632.1000.0

The only thing I have not yet done, is to reinstall the program. Also there is no "Unregister" possibility in the Help drop-down.

@DonVido

Hi

Assuming the computer is connected to the Internet, check the Internet options are set as shown in this comment .

Hi, Thank you for your suggestion. Checked and changed the internet options according to your post. Restarted laptop and ran MEP as administrator. Same error message as previously.

@DonVido

Hi

Have you the Windows 11 update June 14, 2022—KB5014697 installed?

If so this may be affecting the registration - the update turned off one or more features that older programs can use.

In Windows settings, search for Turn Windows features on or off and in the options dialog turn on the options indicated below:

If this fails raise a support ticket - see this Support guide for how to navigate the support system.

Hi John. Thanks for your tip. Tried to install this KB. Message: This update doesn't apply for your computer. Then I checked the Turn Windows features on/off and reset them according to your picture (they were unchecked). Alas this didn't help either.
