Acid Pro 10 sofy sync

William-Cordle wrote on 3/2/2020, 1:00 PM

When I try and add sofy sync drums as a midi track, it's setup correctly but the drums do not play? In Acid Pro 7 when I used Kitcore, the drum plugin showed the actual midi tracks and all you had to do was drag it into the midi track and done!

On Pro 10, I cannot see any way to produce the actual midi track when I paint?

I was going to see if I could help, but what is "sofy sync"? I Googled it, but couldn't find anything related to a drum VSTi.

Sofy syn is a type of VST, like adding drum map etc

Hi

. . . . Sofy syn is a type of VST, like adding drum map etc . . . .

Like @toddbooster I cannot find any reference to Sofy syn.

Do you mean Soft Synths if so what is the name of the actual plugin eg Zebra 2, EZ-Drummer, FM8 etc?

omg sry thought i was typing soft sync lol good catch

this is frustrating!!!! something so simply is becoming so difficult.

I add a midi track, insert a soft sync and choose the installed drums "rock drums default".

This will load the pic of the drum set down below..like acid 7 did etc.

But on Acid Pro 10, there is no little pic of the actual midi chart for the selected drum set.

And if I draw in the midi track and then play it, it doesn't draw the midi out and therefore, doesn't have anything to play

There is def an issue in Acid Pro 10! There is no way to make the drum set actually draw the midi into the actual track so there is nothing for it to play!

Even in Pro 7, when you had a drum kit installed, you could paint on the midi track and choose paint with "whatever the drum name was" and when you drew onto the midi track it would draw out all the little midi marks.

Upgraded for this???

Ok, it seems, that ALL of these soft syncs are rather useless and work NOTHING like Acid Pro 7. At least with Kitcore I could just easily drop a drum track into a new midi track and cut, edit or whatever I wanted.

Acid Pro 10 completely removed that ability with the included soft sync drums VSTi's. You cannot actually USE any of those and drag n drop them into a track. Basically all they are there for is so you can use a midi controller (which I dont have) and punch on another keyboard and hear the sounds the different drum sets.

Again, what is the purpose of that!!

So that leaves me to question, why are they even installed?

Hi

I have not used Acid for a very long while, I do use Music Maker which has very similar synths to Acid.

However from what you have described what I think you are expecting is that when you add the default drum kit to a track it automatically puts in a preset beat, that you then modify.

If this is correct then the midi notes that are put onto the track are the demo beat you can hear when you click the Play button in the instruments dialog.

The Soft Synths are meant to be played with a MIDI keyboard, as you have stated, and/or added/edited in the MIDI Editor (Piano Roll Editor?) to create the beat(s) you require.

Looking at you image above it appears the track is not set /armed for recording before the notes will be written when playing a keyboard.

If you are looking to modify drum beats in particular, there are literally hundreds of free drum beats available on the Internet, I do not have a link fro some with me, however a quick search for free midi drum beats will find them

Is your spell checker overriding Synth to syncs?

@johnebaker

I did install MT power drum kit 2 and it's what I was looking for. Except first time I used it was great, then every time after that EVERY sample is clipping even when you turn all the volumes down you can still hear it. Crazy...
