Acid Pro 10 can't install Microsoft Visual C++ 2013(x64)- won't update

So, ever since the latest update for Acid was pushed out, I've been having issues applying it. Each time I try, I get this error:

I'm on Windows 10 1909 x64. I just got this laptop a month ago, it's all updated.

Beyond the error message, even if I select "update later" Acid has stopped working properly. I can play a track I've already assembled, but I can't change anything in it - volume repositioning, effects, etc - or it crashes. Once I start playing the track, if I hit stop, it crashes. This just started today. It was working fine other than refusing to update until now.

Here's a list of stuff I've tried that did not work:

Reinstalling & repairing Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable and rebooting system

Using the installer in the Download Center under my MAGIX account

Applied updates through Windows Update, checked for updates again (did this a few days before the update for Acid was out, and have checked every day for more updates since)

Uninstalling all of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installed on my laptop, rebooted, tried installing the update to no avail

Uninstalling all the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installed here, rebooted, installed the latest & the correct version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable, repaired the install, then tried again. Nope.

Installed all possible Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, repaired and then tried updating

Tried the Update Troubleshooter for Windows 10, it didn't find any errors

I'm all out of ideas - hopefully someone here will have some. I've been using Acid for 16 years and this is the first time I've had trouble with it.

I just purchased Acid 10 to upgrade and upon installation. I'm having the same issues. I'm kind of surprised that no one has responded to this thread (and it's been quite some time). Did you ever resolve this issue?

Same problem here. I just upgraded from Acid 8 to Acid 10 and I get the same error. Anyone have more info on this?

None of this worked for me. What did work was employing a little trick I learned a long time ago but forgot. When you get to the "INSTALL" Visual C++ thing... hold the CTRL button down and then click the INSTALL button.. then it will go through without a problem.

Yeah, that CTRL option didn't work for me, and the linked entry about adding a reg entry - well, I already had that entry in place. So, no dice.

For me, I removed all versions of C++ 2013 redist, and re-ran the installer manually.

Open Programs and Features (start+R -> appwiz.cpl)
search for 2013 - to show all the c++ 2013 redist updates installed
sort by version number
uninstall all from highest version number to lowest (i restarted at this point, but I dont think you need to)
re-run the installer from C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\MAGIX\ACID Pro\10.0

annoyingly, the version of the c++ 2013 redist installed (12.0.40660.0) I already had installed, so really the Magix installer needs to be checking this a bit better than it currently does. For lols, the MxUpdate.exe actually extracts to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\SonyInstall_X - so I think there may be some legacy code here that's not been touched in a while :D

I haven't been able to get this installed either. I've been quite frustrated as ACID crashes literally every time I open it since the last update.

I got nagware saying my license was about to expire. So I buy an upgrade to version 10 and I get this problem. It's amateur hour at Magix.

I just wanted to say that, new update, same error. Like sheppo said above, I think there's some code that needs to be fixed and would appreciate it if Magix could take better care with the software we must love, cause we keep subjecting ourselves to this absolute nonsense.

An alternative is to download and install the Visual C++ 2013 redistributable from Microsoft here, and install both 32 and 64 bit versions, then install Acid.

May very well be, but I would also assume that an almost 3 year old issue would have been dealt with by Magix by now.

Thanks John, I followed the route (as suggested by Sheppo) of uninstalling all Visual C++ 2013 redistributables and re-installed Acid. It works now.

I've tried all of the above, and even from the links from here (acid pro 8 failed) to other links at microsoft, etc... nothing seem to work for me with Update errors for ACID, in this case AMS11, but had same with AP10 and AP11 last year....

I've got a ticket into Magix for a direct link to AMS11 newest version (upgraded) to save the upgrade installer from having to run and erroring out on the 2013 C++ issues....

They were able to supply me one for AP10 last year....

Going to try just AMS11 without all of the extra ACID Pro features that I probably don't need anyway... at this point.. So my thought is "less core features to go wrong" :)
