Accidentally Deleted Files and now won't let me uninstall

Eric-Trevino wrote on 8/9/2020, 1:41 PM

I downloaded Sound Forge audio studio version 14, both 34 and 64 bit, but i also downloaded Sound Forge pro for windows 10. I wanted to get rid of the first two and keep the pro because my activation number didn't work on both of them. I deleted the files, but I wasn't aware that I needed to uninstall the app to redownload it again and my PC isnt letting me uninstall. It said that I needed a DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Any advice to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe look for an app that does "force delete" or "force uninstall". I have a couple of those. Don't know if they'd work in your case, though.

@Eric-Trevino

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

In addition to what @Former user says, my "uninstaller of choice" is Revo Uninstaller Pro, but the free version is also pretty capable!

If that fails, are you aware of this Microsoft tool which has been known to be the solution to this problem for users of various softwares?

This thread on the Vegas Pro forum deals with basically the same issue.

I tried to force uninstall using Revo but it still said that I needed the DLL and it would not uninstall

You could try File Assassin.

https://www.malwarebytes.com/fileassassin/

Again, I can't guarantee it will work.

Go directly to 'Scan' in Revo.

Otherwise, repair/install, then uninstall w/ Revo
