A thin color line will appear in the MP4 video the left side when exporting

ViDRamFuge wrote on 1/5/2016, 12:12 PM

I have combined videos and photos for a multimedia presentation. Videos are taken by Sony Camcoder HDR-AS200V (MP4 16:9 MP4  1920x1080 rate 50  PAL). After combing with my photos or MP4 video from my Canon Powershot S110  (format 16:9)  when I have exported a ready movie as a MP4 file (HD2 1980x1080) there always is on the video on the left side a thin light/color line. The adjustings when editing are OK and the prewiev is OK. Is also the same phenomen when I have burned the MP4- file on a blue raus disc. I think it is so that this happens during the export. The videos and movies are OK but sometimes this thin line is irritating.

And this line apperas on the Sony video object after combining a video or photo object from Canon Camera not before. I have tried to do so that I have forst made a slideshow of the photos ande export it as a mp4-videofile and combined this to Sony MP4 video and the same result.

What is this phenomen and what can I do? See the picture.

Hi

Which version of MEP are you using and is it patched up to the latest version?

. . . . What is this phenomen and what can I do? . . . .

On what are you seeing this - TV, computer or what?

Does the line appear when you use different players eg Windows Media Player, VLC etc?

. . . .  Is also the same phenomen when I have burned the MP4- file on a blue raus disc . . . . .

Do you mean burning a Blu-ray disc from the Burn menu with all the projects files on the timeline - if not then please clarify exactly what you are doing to burn to Blu-ray?

I'm using MEP 2015 Premium. It´s updated.

I watch my videos on mainly on my computer. Drivers also the graphics card driver (AMD Radeon R7 200 series) are updated.

I use mainly PowerDVD 14 Lite but i also tested differet players like Widows own player (Movies) in Windows 10. The same phenomen when uploaded them on Vimeo. Players are updated.

I have burned them from the Burn menu on the right top of the main window when the projects are on the time line. I use this menu also for outputting my projects as a video file.  I have also tested the for outputting Export movie- menu under the File menu on the Main menu for a short test range. The Same result.

The line looks like a thin slice of a photo which used in project before the Sony object.  I think that in spite of the adjusting the sizes of objects are little bit different - videos and photos from Sony and Canon - and Canon objects are wider than Sony objects in spite of the announced  format???.

Without mixing objects from cameras of Sony and Canon all videos look fine.

Hi

Thanks for the detailed reply that helps a great deal and your last line -

. . . . Without mixing objects from cameras of Sony and Canon all videos look fine. . . . .

- suggests where the issue lies.

Is this with videos from both or a mix of video and still images from both?

Are you using the MOV file format or the iFrame option?

If the MOV option - is Quicktime upto date?

If iFrame then MEP does not support this format - try using MOV.

Please analyse one of the Canon video files wth MediaInfo and post the results from the Tree view.

Can you upload a clip, about 10 - 15 secs long, from the Sony and one from the Canon up to somewhere like Dropbox for us to test to see if we can replicate the problem.

Test them first to make sure you still get the issue and do not post them to any site such as Youtube, Vimeo etc - they convert the files.

Hi

Thanks for the links to the videos and image.

The Example_video_result.MP4 plays OK in all my players - Windows Media Player, VLC and AVS Media Player ( and also Firefox and Chrome using their native players) - with no vertical bar as you are experiencing.

I cannot replicate the problem with any combination of the videos and image in MEP 2015 (or MEP 2016), and rotating the Sony video the correct way up ( see below ), exporting to MP4 using both the Intel and MainConcept codecs, to the same format as per your example, also play OK in all my players.

Do you have any 'all-in-one' codec packs install eg K-Lite or one of the several others available?

The one 'oddity' I did find was that the Sony video is upside down as imported into MEP - is this the case on your PC as well and was the camera mounted upside down?

With your permission I would also like to post the links you sent me so other members can also check on their systems.

Hi,

Thanks for the answers.  Maybe something has happend when I had to re-install Windows 10 about one month ago and haven´t yet installed all apps I had before.  I don´t have any kind of 'all-in-one'  codec pack installed.

And you can post the links.

PS. Yes, the actioncamera was mounted upside down that time

Still I'm wodering.. that you can not see this narrow line in this Example_video. I've send this link to my friends and also watched it on my Sony Tablet Z3 directly in DropBox. We can  see the this narrow line, Example_Video between 00:13 - 00:22 s and 00:50 -00:59 s.

As I discribed before it is very narrow line on the left side of the video. It is not a serious problem but sometimes when throwing a video on a screen when the scene you can feel it irritating and the width of this line varies. Long video wider line.

But I can live with this.

Hi

Thanks for the extra information re seeing the line.

I have rerun the Example video again on a large widescreen TV, and can just make out a line on the left of videos from the Sony camera.

I have also re-run the tests with my MEP 2015 and there is definitely no line visible when exporting.

What is the graphics card / chipset in your computer?

I suspect the problem may have been caused by a combination of the rotation of the video and / or the graphics card.

You can test this using the original clips you sent me but do not rotate the Sony clips.

Hello John EB again

I think I found an answer this phenomen myself. I tested with videos of my Sony action camera on normal position not up side down . Result no lines. So turning original video material can cause this kind of phenomen.

But this is a wonder that  me friends other side of this country with their own computers can see this thin line on this Example_video. There is nothing to do with my screen or with my grapichs card. This line is reslut of the process when exploring a movie project as a MP4 - file in my MEP. The line is thin in this short video.See also the pic in my first question.

Kindly

Hi

I can see the thin line on the videos below.

It was the video example you supplied which when run on my PC shows no evidence of the problem. This however could be attributable to the differences in our computers/players.

However I am pleased that, you have also found, the issue was caused by rotation of the Sony video.

Why you should get the line from doing this and I don't, I can only put down to a difference in the graphics chipset - I am using the integrated Intel HD4600 and yours - which is?

I have AMD Radeon R7 200 series

Raimo R

Last PS for this case:

I checked my Radeon R7 settings and I found there are 8 possibilties to choose: Default, Customized and 6 more, for example, Best Performace, Classic Movie, Homevideo etc. If I use choose homevideo=> no white/colored line in the left side of the video => if I customize the settings using AMD steady video => no white/colored line on the left side of the video. But if use these others Default or Best performance etc there will in my case this white/colored line. I used to use this Best performance choice. When using this Homevideo-settings sometimes black borders in my screen are living odd.

But as I wrote before without rotating the original Sony action camera file the video is OK

Here are the video links for anyone who has a similar graphics card to Raimo R to see if they can replicate the issue.

I have still studied this phenomenon and now I think that the reason is a missing capasity of calculating when exporting - encoding. The reason is not in the videos and photos from differnt sources. The main think is that this turning of a video of my Sony Action Camera happens as a moving effect when editing videos on the timeline.  It so funny that  I have rotated them already with my Sony application (PMH) but when loading them to MAGIX timeline when editing they are still up side down and must turned them again with this Magix rotation effect. And if there is before this Sony videoclip photos with high resolution and also with moving effects for example moving templates this all causes this thin line on the encoded MP4 video. Some time it appears  and sometime not. My Intel Corel processor i5-4570 can do the task but not enough properly. Becauses my computer doesn't  freeze it was so difficult to find the reason.

A can avoid this apperiance of this line turning this my upp side down Sony videoclips each in my MEP and saved them and using GPU- calculating on video effects when exporting and reducing resolution of used photos...or buying a new more effective Graphic Card and more RAM memory or... a new computer. and not taking videoclips uppside down.
