Hi all, this is my first post here :) I have been using magix movie edit pro 15 for basic video editing of my metal detecting YouTube videos for the past 6 months now but have never used it to its full potential. Any way here is my question, my daughter showed me a random weird video on YouTube where someone had made a video of cat clips where someone had blended a man's mouth onto the cat and was speaking and saying funny things. She loved it ( she is only 9) and asked if I can do things like that with my video editor. Is it possible to do this, it seems they took video clips of cats and video clips of a man speaking and somehow cut out his mouth and blended it over the cats mouth so it looked like the cats were speaking. Does anyone know how to do it or where I could find a relevant tutorial. Please remember I'm quite a noob at video editing :) Thanks all Andy

I don't have the answer you want, I'm also a new user.  Maybe someone else here does.  But I will chime in and say I've also wondered about this sort of thing.

What I've been able to do is stuff like...using your example...is use a 2nd video resized smaller (mouth) to lay over top of the cat video.  But the shortcoming with this method is that the "mouth" in this case is a rectangular 2nd picture instead of the shape of a mouth.  I've figured out how to get rid of the rectangular edges by overlaying an actual still image of the origanal cat video with a transparent hole for the mouth, but this still leaves part of the cat video a still image and means you have to use tons of animation frames to keep the still image in sync with the cat video.  It seems there should be a way to cut a shape of a video and include just that portion into another video.

Hi

The technique you require is more advanced and uses 'Masks' and may be Keyframes - I produced a tutorial for blurring out persons faces in a video.

Starting with the tutorial, modify the timeline as below.

  1. Replace the pixellated video with the video of the mouth (track 1)

  2. Add one mask only (track 3 mask not needed)

  3. Replace the video on track 4 with the cat/dog/animal video.

There are a lot of videos about using Keyframes in MEP on Youtube - it is the virtually the same for all versions.
