4:3 versus 16:9 question

I am using PhotoStory 7 under Windows 10 (yes, I know it is an old version).

When I create my slideshow I have selected NOT to use 16:9 setting, nor to automatically adjust to fill monitor (as I do not want to loose the tops and bottoms of my photos).

When I view on my computer all works well with black bands at the sides. However, when I burn to DVD. it shows up on my TV is widescreen format, with the pictures "stretched" to fill the screen (normal people can turn squat and fat). WHY? Is this an issue with how I am creating my slideshow or is this an issue with my DVD player / TV?

On the issue of my OLD version of PhotoStory, would people recommend upgrading to Photostry Deluxe. I have considered it but wonder about all the "issues" I seem to see around. Comments?

Assuming the DVD is also 4:3 then the issue is with the TV.

Many HD TVs have a setting for displaying none widescreen material ie the TV is set to 'stretch' or 'fill screen' the aspect ratio video.

Check your TV's settings.
