Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

Question 1: have you downloaded and installed ALL those "features purchased"?

Question 2: use the File>Export menu to select the type of export format you wish to use.

I don't have a file button to click; there are no buttons on top of my Version of Magix. I am trying to make my layers of music into one singular layer.

Which version of MM do you have?

The top of the screen should look like this:

I've highlighted the File item.

Can you confirm you are using MusicMaker and exactly which version and variant?

Strictly speaking there is no such thing as MM "2018". However, since you say you do not have any buttons on top of your version of Magix it is not possible to ask you to go to Help>About Magix Music Maker and tell us what you see there!

You have not told us whether or not your screen looks the same as the one I posted to my previous message. If it doesn't I think you need to tell us a lot more about your computer, operating system and especially the Display Settings you are using on your monitor. This post will give you a lot of guidance as to what we need to know.

Hi

This sounds like a similar issue I had just over a week ago after a Windows update totally messed up program screen layouts in Windows, the default screen and swapped desktop icons to the wrong screen.

Try the following

  1. Assuming the program is fully loading press F4 to reset the windows arrangement to its standard layout - note this did not work for me.

    in which case

  2. With Music Maker not running, locate the MusicMaker.ini, it should be in the folder

    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\mm25 - where Username is the name you use to log on to the computer

    and delete it - it will be recreated when you start Music Maker - then start Music Maker.

I had to stretch the length or height of music maker; after moving the keyboard. Then the file buttons and others finally appeared. I put my music on CD also. Thank you!

Hi John, thanks for your suggestion, however the MusicMaker.ini file was not in the above-mentioned folder. I hope that this isn't a deeper issue, I'm frustrated enough at this point. In case this helps I am running my MM on a Dell laptop with Windows 10 and I purchased/installed Music Maker Premium as well as Soundforge and Samplitude. Thanks again for your time!

@derek-hodge

When you say the .ini file was not in that folder, do you mean you do not have that folder on your system or that the .ini file was simply not there? I've just checked on my system and the file and folder are exactly where John lists them as being.

If you cannot see the folder at all you need to change the View options to "show hidden files". OTOH, that specific folder is entirely for MM25, the latest version. If you do not have that version, e.g. you are still on version 24, the equivalent folder is going to be mm24. (In my case it is actually mm24dlx since my version was downloaded.)

If the folder is present and visible but that .ini file is "missing" then, yes, I fear you may well have a "deeper issue". Can you possibly take and post a screenshot of the folder, mine is below.

Yours may well be at least slightly different to mine but this gives you some idea of what you should see.

Hi Jeff, thanks for your quick response! Here is a screenshot of my folder which, by the way, is for mm25;

Also, I've already changed my view options to show hidden files. Almost identical to your own it seems but I see the .ini file designation next to your files but not mine. However thanks to the screenshot you sent me I now know which one is the .ini file and I am happy to say that deleting said file has worked! Thanks to you all for the help, I really appreciate it! Now I can have some fun. Cheers!

Hi Derek.

Thanks for the update; glad you're up and running successfully! The fact you can't see the ".ini" file extension is because you have not chosen the option to "Show file extensions" on the Windows Explorer View tab. (I'm pretty certain that earlier versions of Windows had the default of showing such extensions; Windows 10 seems to have reversed this.) I've attached an example screenshot below to show where that option is found.
