What’s the PTM ? (CC)
Dr. Francesco Minasi and Dr. Sandro Glavina, have conceived and developed the «Phalanx Touch Massage». It is not just a simple massage technique, because the PTM is an integrated system that, through a multidimensional approach, offers support for the well-being of the person.
The PTM then is not a simple physical manipulation, but as "holistic" (from the Greek "holos", everything) it is a set of devices that also act on the representational systems of the person (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). "Man and the environment are open systems that constantly exchange matter and energy with each other" (Fitzpatrick, 1993).
The reference cultural model therefore lies in the holistic-systemic approach, which provides a key to understanding where everything is interconnected. As with touch-massage, the PTM does not require particular techniques or skills, but only the willingness to devote oneself to the person in a deeper way, it is the conscious use of resources. Those who practice contact are a "facilitator" who intervenes to help the activation of vital energy by the people treated in which benefits are generated on a psychic, physical and emotional level. And as in psychosomatic massage, the treatment is flexible, according to the needs expressed by the recipient.
As mentioned, the "phalanx touch" massage (in which the massaging action carried out with the palms of the hands followed by static phases with simple palm support, alternating circular movements performed with the fingertips) takes place in a "context -environment". In this synergy, lighting (visual perception) is taken care of through the use of a color-changing LED lamp, fragrances (olfactory perception) are diffused, auditory stimuli are offered through music suitable for promoting relaxation. PTM, as a "contact" is also mutual trust and serenity, empathy, listening. It is knowing how to grasp and respect the needs of the "person system".
