this is a very new song. only wrote it a couple of days ago. there's a line in a song by an americana group called son volt about saint genevieve. i don't know who she is but she sounds good to me. i couldn't steal her, so my song is 'paint genevieve'. the song is loosely based on the life (so far) of scottish painter jack vettriano who, incidentally, did paint someone called genevieve. much of jack's life resonates with me. anyway, i just wanted to get back to some straight acoustic guitar playing and tell a story, so i wrote this.

Sehr schöner Anfang!

Du hast ab- und zu ganz, ganz leichte Probleme bei den Vocals - gut zu hören bei dem "p" von "past" bei ca. 0:04 Laufzeit. Nicht gesanglich, ich meine dass hier der Pegel ausschlägt. Hast du einen Popschutz beim Einsingen verwendet? Aber wie gesagt, das ist sehr minimal.

Die Stimme an sich ist schön.
Nicht zu 100% perfekt, ein-zwei kleine Schnitzer - aber auch die vermag man kaum zu hören....du gehörst definitiv zu den guten Sängern dieser Community. Was aber etwas auffällt, ist, dass die Stimme von Zeit zu Zeit etwas leise und in sich schwankend wirkt - nicht die Stimme, die Lautstärke - manche Worte sind um einiges leiser als andere...in einem Rahmen, der gefährlich ist. Es ist sehr schwer, aber man sollte versuchen die Lautstärke zu halten.

Das Zweistimmige (oder ist's ein Effekt auf der Stimme) ab ca. 2:23 ist echt schön...ich glaube, du könntest den Song noch verstärken, wenn die Zweitstimme hier nicht die selben Töne singt, auch nicht oktaviert, sondern eine andere (natürlich passende) Harmonie singt.

Alles in allem ein schöner, wenn auch auf Dauer etwas abwechslungsloser Song der sich ein "Sehr gut" mehr als verdient hat.

I think the analysis of Mr. Lethal is very valuable. I like to add: The song needs maybe an instrumental part as a kind of meditation. When the vocals stop, there could be a harmonica for instance to do the job leading the melody. I imagine, that could sound pretty nice.

Your kind of performing your songs reminds me a little bit of James Taylor.
