Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum.
I purchased Xara Web Designer Premium 16 a few years ago any never had time to install it or do anything with it.
Now I would like to design and post a website, and have gotten promotional emails from Magix since my initial purchase with Xara upgrade offers.
Since I was finally going to be using the program, I purchased an upgrade to Xara 19 Premium, but before installing it I began looking around the Xara website, possibly thinking I might want to make another upgrade to Xara Pro. As I began comparing features of "Premium" vs. "Pro" I noticed that both products now claim you need a minimum of Windows 10 or 11 to install and use.
I hadn't thought about checking out "specifications" before purchasing my Xara Premium 19 upgrade, and I was very disappointed to read that it apparently would not function on Windows 7 x64- what I currently have installed on my computer.
I do have a copy of Windows 10 Pro, that I know will allow me to upgrade to Windows 11 free, once installed. However, in preparation to upgrade my computer, I ran "sfc /scannow" and found some errors that it claims could not be resolved. To make a long story short, I am now working with some techs in another forum (devoted to Windows issues) and they are walking me through steps needed to resolve the errors and have my computer in a state that I can preform the Windows 10 (then 11) upgrade.
In the meantime, being fearful my Xara 19 Premium would not install of function on my Windows 7 x64 system, I decided to install my older Xara 16 Premium program (that I know was compatible with Windows 7 x64). The program installed and "activated" fine; however I was confronted with bad news when I opened it for the first time in that a popup appeared which informed me that unless I upgrade to Xara 19 (which I technically have, just not yet installed), my access to the online library of templates, objects, clipart, etc. had expired last March.
My question is this: although the Xara website says version 19 Premium is only for Windows 10 or 11, is there a possibility that if I attempt to install my Xara 19 Premium upgrade on my currently Windows 7 x64 system, is there a chance that it will be functional enough for me to design and post a website, and which will also allow me access to the online library of design elements?
Has anyone tried installing Xara 19 Premium on a Windows 7 x64 system, and if so, what was the result?
Without access to the online library of templates and design elements, it looks like it will be a challenge (if even possible) to create a website on Xara 16 Premium, or am I wrong about this?
Thanks so much for your help and any advice you might be able to provide.
