Will not open previous version files

About half of my previous design web files will not open with the current version of Zara designer pro. This is incredibly and I see that not lightly very inconvenient.
as I have no desire to re-create the websites from scratch once again. it seems whatever file was created in 2014 will not work with this current version.
so much for being backwards compatible!

There are limits to backwards compatibility - depending on the version of Web Designer / Designer Pro the projects were created on, eg sites created using version 15 (2017) are compatible with version 19.

funny thing is, before I had uninstalled 17 I had opened one of those from the same era, since deleted as the client went out of business. Somehow there must be a way to keep working on older files. To go through my list every “x” years and open and re-save files just doesn’t make sense. Note, graphic files made from the same time open just fine!

I believe the original 365 but not super sure but I keep current so whatever Xara program was current then but always designer pro maybe that’s it maybe it was Xara and not MAGIX at the time. They made a change at one point and the software was no longer available at the Xara website until about a year ago. Now we have pro plus on Xara site and then the 365 (19) in the Magix version I’m super confused

Designer Pro X365 was first released in 2016, for 2014 it would have probably been X 9 or X 10.

Are you getting any error message when trying to open one of the files that is causing the issue - if so what is the full message?

A check on the file format would have been to open one in 17 and resave it, then try opening it in 19.

Pro Plus has new exclusive features - however the site only says: 'Coming soon' . the Magix version does not.
