In the timeline, when I grab the scrubber with my mouse, the timline suddenly jumps as if I had clicked inside the scroll bar. I therefore lose my place, making careful editing really difficult. Any ideas why this is happening?
I'm using X3 on a 32 bit Windows 7 laptop. Otherwise the software is running fine!

I've never seen this particular behavior on my VPX (versions 2 & 2.5) though occasionally I get some odd keyboard and 'mouse' behavior on my old Dell laptop -- particularly using the touchpad rather than a real mouse. The most common is simply losing a keyboard shortcut for a while.
Perhaps other users can make more useful comment?
